  1. Don, you didn't seriously just admit to scratching another members car did you ?
  2. As they say, the check is in the mail! Thanks George and Tim. I think this is exactly what the doctor ordered for my pickup !
  3. In my car, I can definitely beat every bicycle on the road... and have reached the top speed of 65 mph ! 65 mph is of course the speed limit... nudge nudge wink wink. I can tell you that in the passenger seat with a driver I wont be identifying in case there are any of my law enforcement buddies listening in, we exceeded he speed limit by more than double. That was in excess of 130 mph as it registered on one of those new fangled gps units. That was a Plymouth, with a few modifications to a big block. The only reason I wont spoil the surprise and disclose the speed is I expect the driver may want to post a picture I took of the gps. I am convinced if we could have folded out wings we could have taken off!
  4. wow wow wow. this just keeps getting better and better. Now that I can see it close up, all I can say is wow wow wow. I am not asking my bride. Make my order 2 of them. I would like 1 with the lowest serial number you can give me, 2 carbs, and linkage on the inside for the 1950 Plymouth. For the second one I just want the intake and the linkage, but would like it on the outside like the one you have on your post. I have a truck intake, so I will sent it to you with the carb on it and maybe you can move whatever it is that doesn't come with your linkage and use mine. I know you mentioned giving me credit for the carb. I am hoping the intake core is worth enough to cover the additional work cleaning up and moving over the truck pieces. OldasDirt has me thinking and I think I need a wall hanger for my man cave which doubles as my office and bar and the truck one is definitely the one to do that.. I have a pair of truck carbs and I will just get the bride to paint them and make them look pretty for display. She powder coated some carb pieces for me already and while maybe not practical they look cool. Thanks again. Paul
  5. At least one piece of good news today. Tim's 1941 selling I couldn't come to say good news. I agree with Fargos-Go-Far beautiful piece of jewelry! Let me know and I can paypal you as friends and family right now, or send you a check. I would just like to have 1 before labor day weekend if possible. If not when you can you can! Excited to get one and my dearest wife thinks it is a lot cheaper than the 1941 Plymouth anyways. What does she know?? P
  6. Ill drop you a note: I don't have any, but I have seen them for sale
  7. Andy we get you like it, but better fuel economy and a much better car to drive sounds a little bit tough to believe.
  8. what is a h320 ? when I click on the highlighted h320 in your post I get a helmet . http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TS0TNOW?tag=viglink25301-20 kind of weird ?
  9. that is a cool setup. will that fit under a car hood? not that I am likely to ever to lay my hands on one never mind see one but could help but wonder.
  10. oh tim please do storys on Al and Gene. Ive seen no. 554 34 ford coupe flying down the track and have met Gene Mooneyham and Al Sharp. Both those good old boys didn't take **** from anyone, didn't kiss asses, didn't care about anything beyond eating drinking showering and likely shitting performance. Als hemi heads were just the best on the strip and Genes blower and ability to get off the line better than anyone just made for one incredible pair of true drag racing legends. Im on the other end of the country but Als legend was coast to coast. He also seemed like quite a business guy and likely the fenton pattern purchase and producing stuff like flathead ford v8 items helped pay for his other passions. if Al had designed the intake it would be top shelf stuff however just using using a pattern would be more to sell product with out the need to develop. cant blame him for that. I am sure if I had lived on the left coast I would know more about both. if you can put together blogs on them it sure would be fun to turn back the clock and learn more than the information that got passed the country on them during their campaign days. thanks tim. great stuff
  11. thank you for another great blast into your past. please keep writing. Im sure there are lots who enjoy your blog as much as I do plus the shift to a barn find story is awesome. even with it being your family barn that may not qualify as a true barn find. I can not wait tohear the telling Mom even if a lot of us likely already know the punch line to the story.
  12. thanks Marty, that's what I am talking about. thank you. sorry for dumb questions that follow. rods ground down is that to reduce weight ? custom forged venolias with modern Toyota rings. is there someone you can buy those ? 20 years ago I could find forged and cast pistons. Now I don't see forged and not much in cast even. whats a torque plate ? got any pictures of your air cleaners. I cant picture them but they sound cool.
  13. At the risk of being jumped here. where can I learn more about that mr stahl is doing. My 10 year old grandson has a massey ferguson garden tractor that we have built to pull at local pulls in New York State. We have bored and put in a 360 piston in it. We got that idea from one guy willing to share info. But everyone guards everything around here and were newbees. We have a single cyl class so even 50 hp out of a Kohler would put a big smile on a kid. My grandson might smile as too. maybe send me a note.
  14. Marty - I for one would like to hear about your 230. I don't care if your guessing at its horsepower or if its been dyno'd. Id put my car up against an Echo if the driver looked slow to react at the lights however that's it for racing. You will therefore have a faster car I am sure. I thought this forum was for guys telling us what they had done and have fun with it. I was excited by this topic, but sad to see the stock guys trying to rain on the parade. I wont be driving hundreds of miles a day. I don't care if it uses tons of gas. I only drive my car a few thousand a summer. If this is just about guys demanding dyno reports and drag racing tickets to post without getting attacked then this forum is not for me. I would however like to hear about your modified 230 because I will certainly learn something.
  15. Well I am hooked Tim. Happy New years and whatever you want to write about I would love to read about it. Now if you really start using 350 chevys, then I will stop reading ! By the way, I agree with all of the above !
  16. I dont know how many folks on the forum follow the AoK blog, but the recent block post -The story of the "Worlds Fastest Flathead…. Motorcycle" is definately worth taking a moment to read
  17. Have a look at the AoK blog. Kingsbury has a 1951 Fargo panel truck entry over there and likely worth contacting him. Before I had seen his entry I didnt even realize these existed. Now I see two of them Where did you find this ?
  18. I am assuming you will keep us posted on the plymouth bike and yes even this old guy picked up on the chrysler motorcycle. please dont tell me we have to wait till next christmas to hear about it ?
  19. holy crap, this in unbelievable. way better than any reality tv show. Why isnt the history channel or dicovery channel not following you guys around.?
  20. Holy Crap, that is incredible where did you get that? Ive never seen or heard of such a truck but it is beyond cool. Oh and are the Kingsbury or Asche's taking any adoption applications ? I really think we must have been some how seperated at birth. Tim - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you folks as well. I must say this blog is incredible and the best thing I have come across for year. Please keep up the good work. I really look forward to reading your posts.I am sure there are others that must feel the same?
  21. Love those progress pictures. So $850 will get me Intake, a pair of rebuilt carter ball and ball carbs and linkage for my powerwagon ? I dont need the water tube and I think I need the linkage on the outside of the intake as that is how the powerwagon is. If you have the 1950-54 carbs I have figured out how to attach two aircleaners that look appropritate I will send you a note to get the address and give you my shipping information. If that is all correct I will send you payment as I would definately like to be close to the front ofthe line. Ideally I want to buy an intake for my 50 plymouth as well, but right now the powerwagon is sort of the priority. Thanks again for creating this. I am as excited as a kid on Christmas. Hold on I am a kid after Christmas even if I am a 68 year old kid.
  22. Thanks Tim - Ive been looking for performance stuff and a way to run power steering for years. In 1 day I have learned more than in the last 30 years of playing with flathead plymouths. Where have you guys been hiding all my life ? Sounds like a pickup line for a girl I know. Let me know your number. I have read you post you think that is expensive but I paid more than that for a blower pulley for my barracuda so while I understand what you mean, for $250 for a pair, I definately need a pair. That is the missing piece to allow my to put power steering on the car. I have everything else figured out. I dont need airconditioning but I have thought about running both 6 volts and 12 volts in my car. Likely one of those dumb ideas. Id like to have 12 volts for lights, and a stereo and a few other things, but for instraments and coil etc I would like to keep the 6 volts. I know you can get resistor setups to drop 12 volts to 6 volts, but I have also seen them fail, so as dumb as it may sound I would like to run both. But to pull that off and power steering I definately need the second belt. Thanks for making my day !
  23. Thanks Tim - Thanks to Don Coatney I have just figured out how to send a message through the forum so I am learning. Where are you guys located and do you have a phone number I can contact you guys ? I am definately interested in getting an intake and linkage. I will send payment tomorrow to get in the front of the line if you can give me a total. I have a few carbs so I am look to see if I have a matched pair here, since I have a freshly rebuilt one on the car now. If you guys are within driving range and if you guys will install it for me that would be ideal. Obviously I would pay you guys for the work. I am sorry if I have missed it, but do you guys sell split exhaust manifolds or headers as well ? Ive seen the fenton headers before. They seem to be a lot heavier than stock and they are definately expensive. The last pair I saw was $800 Overdrive - wow.. wow.. wow.. I am definately interested. Is there any prize if we pick the name you use ? I definately love the surgeon general quote. I think I need that on a tshirt or a bumper sticker. That is a classic
  24. I definately need one for my 1950 plymouth. I have built up a 230 for it. Will you have linkage available for this intake for carter ball and ball carbs ? If so how much money ? When do you think they will be available? Im new to the forum. A buddy of mine just called me this morning to tell me about the new intake. I was definately blown away with your video postings. I paused the video and had a good look at the setup on your car. That is incredible. Where did you get that dual pulley I see on the water pump ? Where did you get that polished alternator ? Sorry for all the dumb questions but I looked around that engine compartment on the video and I think I hurt my jaw as it hit the floor. Last question, what is the stuff that looks like wiring going to one of the carbs ? Thanks for your time. I have tried an offy and it was not successful. I lost all the torque in my engine. Ive been trying to find a edmunds for some times, but to find the edmunds I want they are out of reach. On your list, I dont need the water jacket. I dont need the truck tabs although I think that would be a good idea. Where the linkage tabs are, heck you tell me. You guys know more than I do so whatever you have that works works for me. I like the serial number idea and any name will be cool. Maybe AoK flatheads forever. Yes I was listening to you video. Thanks for making my day, week and year
  25. I dont need one for a truck, but I would be interested in one for my 230 ci motor in my 1950 plymouth ! Im in at that price range. Above that, I would likely be interested but I would have to think about it. I had an offy on the car. A couple of weeks later removed it. Lots of rpm but it lost too much torque as you describe. Some of my buddies used spacers to get carbs up but it was not a great solution. Ive looked for an edmunds for quite a while, but they are pretty expensive from what I have seen. While you have linkage available for them ? Rebuilding an engine, no problem but I hate trying to make linkage for stuff. It just isnt something I like to do.
