  1. Not bragging, (much) but even on a cool morning, I switch on the key til I hear the electric pump change notes to tell me the carb floats just said that's enough, I pump it once or twice, hit the starter and I'm off and running. And that's with no chokes in the carbs at all. I do warm it up for a coupla minutes, any excuse to make some loud muffler noise. And I admit, a cool morning here is usually over 32 degrees F.
  2. C'mon guys, enough.... Time for a GROUP HUG!!!!!
  3. Good start for a project Rodney. You can work wonders with that front chrome and some SOS pads! Have fun.
  4. Yeah, but everyone has their own idea of their perfect car. That's why we get so darned attached to them. In the photo link I posted, there are 4 pages of pics and hidden in there are several original or near original Walter P. Chrysler products in their survivor glory, from 20's to 50's. There are 4 pics of a gorgeous 1922 Dodge restored truck. And also a few of those sadder but wiser cars that took a different turn in the road but are still being driven....a lot. I need to note that other than some nostalgia drag cars, everything at that show was driven in, and some from quite a distance. Hey Darin, stop by and kick some tires some time. Here's the link again. Some really unusual stuff, http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/nhcarter1/Mooneyes%202006/
  5. Trouble with NAPA is the people. Some are sharp, others need to take up other careers. They usually have what you need and decent quality, if they know how to use their own reference books.
  6. Like this shift pattern note Bob?
  7. Here's a link to the photos. Lots of unusual ideas at this show. If you don't like to see old iron chopped up, turn back now! http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/nhcarter1/Mooneyes%202006/
  8. Welcome to the shaky side. Remember, California is like a big bowl of granola, what ain't fruits and nuts is flakes. Carlsbad is a nice area.
  9. She confirmed that her pearls are sometimes functional in the shop environment.
  10. You know, I was also thinking Spiffweller scorelabs, but I didn't want to be the first to suggest it.
  11. Mooneyes Christmas Party. I was there at 7:30 for a show that started at 9and already a line out onto the main road. What a show. Nostalgia 1/8 mile drags, from gassers to old funny cars. Live Rockabilly music, vendors, artists, car show. I am awestruck. It was a sea of tattoos blue jeans and black tee-shirts, including mine. Black Tee shirt that is. Darin, Mackster, Mikemaker, Robert, were you there? I took a lot of pics and will post the better ones on photosite or photobucket. Anyone know the limits on the free service at photobucket?
  12. Nice to have that to look forward to while slogging through those studies.
  13. You guys know your stuff. Great tips. For anyone just learning tune up work, this would be a good thread to print and save. I learned tune-up while working in a service station in Southern CA in the 60's. When I moved back to Fla, I hired on at a Standard Oil station and the owner would introduce me to his regulars as his "new tune up man, just came in from California." Pressure!
  14. I remember from my New Jersey days that folks would keep a can of ether starting fluid in the car for cold mornings. Don, how did those plugs look, are they running cleaner with the stacked air filters you installed?
  15. My tune up tach/dwell meter works fine on 6 or 12 volts. It's analog, not digital.
  16. I agree, profiles are great. Heck, it ain't like we're gonna follow you home. Check Mikemaker's profile. We're just reglar folks.
  17. Nice to see some others enjoying the forum later at night. The US time zones have some of us posting after dinner which is bedtime for a lot of east coasters.
  18. Pretty car and a well composed shot too. For me the abundance of light colors gives a car a more 30's look. I like the contrast of darker rims. Stock Mopar caps and nice beauty rings with dark rims is still one of my favorites.
  19. I like old metal cars. Here's a pic of some hot wheels and tootsietoys.
  20. I've never seen anything like them before.
  21. Today was shirtsleeve weather here but supposed to chill down Friday. We might get some light rain showers here by Saturday night. Light rain in SoCal means only 2 or 3 houses go downhill in mudslides. Saturday is a large local hotrod show, The Mooneyes Christmas party, and Sunday we attack mackster's suspension. A Mack Attack!
