  1. I went through the same deal, I have a late 80's 318 that has an earlier rear sump pan. I found a V8 rear sump Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dakota (cant remember which) at the boneyard. The factory dipstick fit my tube and pan.
  2. No problem, make sure you post some pictures as you go. The hood was almost 1/4" too long in the front. I cant figure out how it was that far off but after we trimmed the back of the hood it finally started fitting right. We also re-primed and blocked the passenger door and decklid so it's finally starting to get really close to painting the front clip and doors.
  3. Looking great! Keep up the good work, you'll be on the road before you know it.
  4. It's a 15 gallon cell. I got it on Ebay with the GM sending unit included. Lots of vendors selling fuel cells on there and they are all pretty reasonably priced. I got this one for $115.
  5. I pulled the old tank and got the fuel cell mounted. Looks like it was a good move; I looked in the old tank with a flashlight and it was rusted pretty bad all the way around. Now I just need to run the fuel lines and the vent and we'll be back on the road.
  6. Thanks, it's been a slow process on this one but its making headway. My buddy has had a hard time finding the time to get the body and paint done but its ok. He and his wife lost their three year old daughter to cancer a little over a year ago and they are both trying to finish college to get better jobs while they raise their son. I told him just work on it when you can, no hurry. It'll get there and taking the time to do a good job will be worth it.
  7. I moved the car to the other side of the garage today to make it easier to get my 51 in and out. Here's a trial fit on the hood; it's close but will need some work for a better fit in the front. This is actually the hood off the 47 parts car; the 48 hood was ate up.
  8. Thanks, Tim. I'm thinking of doing a 2 door conversion on my 51 over next winter if I can come up with a decent set of doors and some quarters. Maybe I can come across a decent parts car.
  9. Does anyone know if the 49 and 50 Plymouth doors will fit the 51 and 52s?
  10. I went looking for the rear hood brace and found it was missing; bummer! After checking around one of the HAMB members came up with one for a Desoto. The curve was right but the end where it bolted to the hinges was different so after welding on some short tabs I think we're good. Got a coat of etching primer on and hopefully we'll get a trial fit with the hinges bolted on done this week.
  11. Looks great; I went through the same with my 48. Bought it in pieces and had to figure out how it all went together. All the pictures of member's cars on here really came in handy.
  12. I did the 74" in my 51 and they are just about right.
  13. Been working on the hood several nights this past week; finally got it to where I could put some etching primer on it. I'll do the other side in a day or so.
  14. Do it; it'll look good.
  15. Not sure, Cass. They enlarge fine on mine. I've also got a similar set of brand new aftermarket three bar spinners Im selling for a friend if you're interested.
  16. You sure you wouldn't just rather change this thing to 12 volt and run a standard alternator with a built in regulator, Robert? Sounds like you could have paid for the swap two or three times over by now.
  17. I think they are an aftermarket cap styled after a Dodge Lancer cap.
  18. A friend came by today; he was cleaning out his dad's garage after he passed away last year. His dad was a car builder and avid hubcap collector. He gave me a set of these for the car; I think they look pretty spiffy.

  20. I'd have to go with Tim on this; POR-15 is a great product and I've used a lot of it on frames, floors, inner panels, plus a lot of large commercial HVAC applications at my job. I showed it to the vendor who I use to repair cooling towers and they dropped their standard products for it.
  21. I'd sure like to try it. I wanted to make it to Plymouthy's gig last October but couldn't make it happen.
  22. It's been a while since I got to put some time in on this one; I spent a few hours wet sanding the front clip and had to rebuild one of the hood hinge mounting edges. Feels good to see a little progress again.
  23. I got my heater in this weekend and it works great. I used the controls from the 49 and a generic OReilys heater valve. I also got the cowl seal on (without it the back of the hood was rattling) and my friend Kyle was kind enough to buff the whole car for me. The old paint came out looking pretty decent.
  24. Yeah, I looked at those and they were a bit pricier plus you had to pay extra for the defrost vent adapter. Nice looking unit, though.
  25. I was going through the remaining parts for the front and realized Im missing the brace that runs across the rear underside of the hood by the hood hinges like in this picture. Anyone out there have one they would part with?
