  1. Can you tell by the photo in the instructions what make the car is by the dash? It would be interesting to know
  2. Rodney, If I did this right, you should see the trumpet horns on my P-10 Plymouth Business coupe Hope this helps, Bob
  3. Thanks everyone, my wife and I installed the driver's side last evening, and started the passenger side. Hopefully I can finish it today. I used the staple gun to hold the windlace in place, then used carpet tacks to finish. My metal peices were all in good shape except I had lost the lower one for the driver's side. I made one by reversing the passenger side one. I didn't make the teeth the same, but close, so hopefully it will hold the headliner when the time comes.
  4. I am new to this forum, but not new to the old Plymouths, as I have a 1940 Plymouth P-10 Business coupe, which I have had now for 20 years. It should have been junked, but I liked the body lines and it ran. I have been driving it for better than 11 or 12 years when the weather here in the Catskills of New York permits. I have a headliner and windlace that I would like to install. Do I install the windlace with the carpet tacks before I install the headliner. It would seem that I would have to attach the windlace first before I put the metal pieces with the serrated teeth back on, then the headliner is pushed gently over those teeth with a blunt plastic putty knife. Starting at the rear window and working forward is the general game plan I would think. How close am I in my thinking? Thanks, Bob
  5. Back in the middle 60's we use to hang out at either Barnes, or the Hollywood at Chateaugay Lake on Friday and Saturday nights. My Mother was raised in Chateaugay. Along time ago now. No driving the old Plymouth today, the fog is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Not a good weekend for Rhinebeck:(
  6. '05 Neon SXT and "00 Pontiac Grand AM SE, but this time of year, most of my driving is done with my '40, since I am also retired:)
  7. shel bizzy 48 Question, Do you know where Ellenburg Depot is I see that you are from the northern part of the state so I thought I would ask.
  8. In our small town we have one combination gas and grocery store, a couple of weeks ago they had two individuals drive out at the pump without paying. Over a hundred dollars in gas. At that point the owners don't let anyone buy gas or diesel until they prepay, then the pumps shut off automatically once the desired amount is pumped.
  9. The biggest problem I have had with my '40 for the past twenty years is the brakes. On page 77 of the 1936 to 1942 manual it states tp turn the brake shoe adjusting cam until the wheel won't movem then back off. I have done this, but question is, when turning the cam to bring the top of the shoe out, which way do I turn the cam? I have turned the cam both down and up and the wheel won't move, so I am lost at this point. My wife says I have been "lost" for years:) Is the correct way to turn the cam clockwise or counter clockwise. I appreciate any help I can get from everyone, Bob
  10. Alaska48, This is my first posting on this site, I have a 1940 Plymouth business coupe, not restored greatly, but my "Driveable Dream" I was stationed in Alaska in 1970 and '71 while in the Air Force. Beautiful state. I have always wanted to go back, but at this point haven't made it as of yet. Good luck with the '48 and keep us posted, Bob
