  1. Actually this is my first car http://p15-d24.com/topic/33828-first-look-at-the-p15-in-25-years-or-so/ so that's why I'm wanting to get it back on the road. My second car was a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere II. It was a rust bucket, but I wish I still had that one too. I can't remember the exact order, but here's the ones I remember: 1979 Mustang 1977 F150 1986 'vette, (Chevette, that is ) 1989 Dodge Ram 50 1991 Ford Escort Some forgettable cars in here.... 2001 Chrysler Town and Country 2003 Dodge Neon 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Also, Murfman1967, you've had some awesome cars!
  2. Nice pics! Thanks for posting.
  3. Thanks, good idea. I'll do that.
  4. I went to the farm and checked out the P15 to see what I need to get it home. It was a bit dirty sitting in the barn for so many years. This is before I sprayed it off. The handbrake seems to work, so that's good, considering the back brake lines were laying under it. The front tires had air and the rear tires actually are holding air, so not bad for 33 year old tires I checked the fluids and then we cranked it over. It wasn't getting any spark, but the oil pressure gage was working with a few cranks. The gas tank was completely empty, it ran out of gas the last time it was running, so when I went to siphon out the old gas, the tank was completely dry. The trim, two air cleaners and extra parts in the trunk. No spark, it needs rewired, and cleaned up. The sheep were rough on the fender. This was in good shape until they rubbed up against it in the barn. It think it will bend back out ok. After spraying it off, I like the patina. I might clear coat it and run it that way while I focus on mechanical. Link to the photo album https://plus.google.com/photos/107394537078274784684/albums/5908950325288023217?authkey=CLToupbcj7f67gE
  5. Maybe it's wrong, but the window sticker on this one said '51. I don't know them well enough to tell the difference yet.
  6. The 51 Suburban was as sharp in person as in the photos. This 42 Sumac colored beauty was actually a resto-mod. It had a big hemi in it and modern running gear. I talked to the owner and he's not an Internet kind of guy, and he said he has all the original running gear he would sell. He invited me to come over, so when he's ready I'll go and take some pics and post what I find he has for sale.
  7. I actually found quite a few Mopars today. I even found some Plymouth Suburbans. Here are some photos. https://plus.google.com/photos/107394537078274784684/albums/5907998200310413809?authkey=CIaN46GcyKvurgE
  8. Andy Bernbaum has tanks and mounting hardware for $275. No clue on how original they are. http://www.oldmoparts.com/parts-fuel.aspx
  9. Welcome, and that's a really nice looking car! I'm a newbie too and already I've been blown away by the knowledge and level of help the members on this site are willing to share.
  10. It has the Historic Motor Vehicle license tag on it. I'd probably want liability insurance on it anyway considering the whole lack of brakes thing.
  11. Ha. I have the AAA Gold Plus RV already and I'm 92 miles away, which fits under their 100 mile limit. I'm going to check that out! This would be great to have them deal with the tow.
  12. I did, and the 33 year old tires pretty much made me rule that out. I'm hoping they hold air reliably until I get new ones. Loving the ideas guys!
  13. Thanks for the replies. It's not working, but I don't know if all it needs is adjusting. Is that a preferred solution or would it be more challenging? I'd also thought about a winch, but considering I'll be using a UHaul car hauler trailer, I'd hate to buy a winch for essentially a one or two time use. I'm not ruling it out, however.
  14. I've got a '48 P15 Business Coupe and it's 2 hours away on my dad's farm in a shed. I know that one of the back wheel cylinders is leaking and it has no brakes at all. However, I believe it will start and run well enough to get it on a trailer. The issue is obvious, I need it to be able to stop the car until I can get it to my garage to replace the entire brake system. It's not in a location where you can do actual repairs. So, my question is, what is the best way to get any brakes at all to pull it on and off a trailer? One thought I had was perhaps I disconnect the line in the master cylinder going to the back brakes and put in a (I assume) 3/16th brass or steel plug. I'm thinking that would give me front brakes if I did that and give me the ability to stop the car. Again, I plan on replacing everything with new parts and never driving it on the road until I do. I'm not a mechanic, and one big goal of this is to learn all I can on this particular car so if this idea makes no sense, please let me know my best options.
