  1. I do not think these engines need lead additives, they have hardened valve seats.
  2. I have pulled my old one out to change the gasket and had no problem fighting the lever. With the new one that is not going to happen. I guess I will have to find the correct spot on the lobe. The new one does have the 1/4 inch travel.I plan on installing it tomorrow.I will post how it went.
  3. I think I have seen this link posted here once before. Or I may have come across it on the internet.
  4. LoL,good catch .
  5. Yea, I was thinking about that. There should be a spot on the lobe that the pump will just slide right in without pushing on the lever right?
  6. Thanks, mine have the glass bowls. I guess the old one is worn and the new one has tight tolerances maybe?
  7. I have seen this car up on e-bay a few times, very nice. He keeps dropping the price I guess. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler-Sedan-Antique-Vintage-1950-MOPAR-Chrysler-Plymouth-Windsor_W0QQitemZ270565048735QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3efeef019f#v4-30
  8. Any thoughts?
  9. I noticed the new fuel pump I plan on installing is very stiff. The lever is very hard to move by hand. The one I have installed in the car now I remember I was able to move the lever. Is this normal and the old one is worn?
  10. I collected the wood chips when she spit them out the tail pipe. They are in my garden now .
  11. Another new project for me,thanks Don
  12. Don, I see you have a grounding strap hooked up. Where do you have it hooked up to on the opposite end?
  13. I finished it up today, here are some pics.
  14. I just cleaned my oil bath filter, look at all of the dirt it collected. You can even see a leaf at the 2:00 position. I think this is about 300 miles worth maybe a little more.
  15. It's amazing how well these filters work.
  16. I went to get 50 wt oil for the air filter and all they had was 40 wt. Should I keep looking or will 40 wt do?
  17. That road is great ! Nice pics
  18. I had the same question and jd52cranbrook who has helped me a lot understand this system answered this- Its the line into the intake manifold that creates the suction for the circuit. I understand your thinking the carb would suck the air in the opposite direction, but the air coming in from the air cleaner has so much more volume, and more free flowing that it does not. However the tube or hose into the intake manifold is much more centered, kind of like sucking through a straw rather than just breathing in from a open mouth. Hope it makes sense, sometimes I confuse myself, lol.
  19. Yes, it is still in place. With this setup it is now a closed system with filtered air. I will post pics when I finish. Thanks again jd52cranbrook, all the info you sent me helped a lot.
  20. If I drilled above the oil it would be unfiltered air right?
  21. Not sure what you mean by above the oil level? The area that I want to drill is a sealed off from the oil (If I drill it will not hit the oil) It is a different compartment in the air filter that is open to the intake. If you look at the picture I posted of the bottom half of the filter you can see the hole for the support(which is below the oil level). I want to drill level with that hole.
  22. Ok, I bought a breather cap for $5.99 at the local auto store and sealed off the bottom with epoxy. Then drilled a hole and screwed in a 1/4 in. hose fitting. I now plan on drilling my air filter on the side inline with the screw hole for the support and I will insert a 1/4 in. 90 deg. hose fitting. I blew into the screw hole and it is open to the intake, do you guys think that is a good place to drill in the air filter? I would like opinions before I drill.
