sound interesting !! i rebuild all the inerior of my 1948 dodge custom sedan and i never can't find the right fabric for the car ... i choose a brown cotton, it's beautiful but look like a chrysler. i'm interesed by the link of kovi. i make a cover for the top of the seat of my 41 dodge coup, cause the edges are cracked and it's the original upholstery and i don't wanna change it. I make the headliner myself with old bed wrap from the local hospital where my dad work, this wrap cam from a stock of the worldwar 2 ha ha, it's heavy duty wrap lol well i stained the wrap caus it was orinaly whit. my mother was affraid for his sewing machin ha ha ha but it work fine the interior of my 48 dodge. I keep the leather at the bottom of the doors and front seat, i only change the leather of rear seat cause it's cracked. i make a two tone like the original but originaly, the brown pattern are grey and maroon striped and i never find one fabric like that. this kind of fabric it's very hard to find in france ... i search in all store in Bordeaux and i find this fabric on a web stie in germany ...

thanks for the name of the tool for the gasket, i don't find it alone or too much expansive (shipping coast always ... ), for this kind of gasket if it is too dry or anything else, i buy the paper for making gasket myself, use the NOS as a model and cut it in the paper the old mopar part box make a good decoration into my garage ^^ i have a lot of this part box. for undercutting the mica, i use a sharpened saw blade and i proceed very very carefully and slowly of course i don't have specifique tools for that in my garage

on 390 miles only 24mpg ! between 55 and 60 miles per hour on highway ! preparation of the trip with a friend and girlfriend on the road my friend stand up on the running board, took some photos of us this summer, outisde, the temp is over 100°F and the car do't overheat at all

after, i repaint the body with a classic black paint, not perfect but clean. THE TIMING CHAIN : i put the new on the car to see if this one fit i having bad surprise in the past when i ordering parts, and with the atlantic oceon between you and me, it's expansiv to retrun parts so i thinking twice before ordering and work on my car, it's ok, the chain fit perfectly now i gonna clean all the old grease, gasket etc and finish this work, i'm waiting for the chain cover gascket. my car look bad, she need a paint job but she run so smooth, i driving it to the south of the france this summe it's a real traveler car !! i love it

in the same time, i make myself a new set of spark plug wires, with a cloth covered wires buy in england, 22 feet with the connectors for $40 shipping icluded. (i use my dodge as a daily i want it run like new ^^ ) i found this everdry kit in a box that came with the car when i buy it in the usa. after that, i found this kit for rebuild the generator on ebay, i don't recived it yet. but i start to opening my generator, clean the body and rebuild thearmature assy with a friend own a machine tool (i don't know how do you call that in english, sorry) well, it's the same when you rebuild an engin, to remove the out of round etc etc. anyway i do that on my armature assembly to have a perfect finish to have a perfect contac with the set of brush. after that you need to clean all the striae on the copper parts of the armature you start with this and i want this, not so easy, take so much time to do a good job, the service operations time schedule book give 1h40min to do this job (removing, dissaembling, rebuild) i over passed this time of 1h minmum ha ha ha ^^ but i don't do that every days ...

Hi, 2 weeks ago, i recived from the USA (i living in France) new old stock parts for my 41 dodge club coupe and i waiting some other, i hope comming soon. first i rebuild my king pin set because it's all original on my car and got to much free play on it. well, i find this kit on ebay for $75, it's a complete kit with pin, bushings, shimes and bearings for the both side of the car of course with the notice from mopar parts division for instalation of the bushings, clearence etc. i removed the brake plate assy and steering knuckle, by the way, i buy last year a front end kit, not a NOS and i have some regrets about that because it's a real poor quality ... anyway i try to find a NOS to replace it. and if someone can help me to find a set of sway bar link for a 1941 dodge, thank you very much. the old pin with his bearing totaly out ! i can open it without using tools ...

Hi guys ! i fixed my horns !! i check the ground of each horns, i check the wire in the steering tube, clean the contact uneder the horns cap, the high tone is just dirty the other, i dont know but i disasemble it and reasemble it and when i turn the adjusting screw, it work fine ! everything's good !

thank you Frank for this very detailed explanation ! i try this and i let you know about it ! on the 2 horns, one work, the other just make some diaphragme noise but no sound for the one who works i check the ground and the other ground and maybe adjustment. for the wire thru the steering shaft, i read shp manual with the picture of that. it's easy to fix thank you very much ! this car is all original, never restored, 6v systeme, i'm the 4th owner, i buy it in pennsylvania last year, i have the original lisence plat from 1948 and the mopar envelope with waranty, owners guide, fluid drive guid, and mopar radio model 802 guide ad some other papers about "your new dependable dodge" ^^. the engine is the original, never restored before i do it. other thing, i drove it today, and when i turn the steering wheel i can ear the relay !! i think the wire in the column is in bad shape ... i fix that before other research thank's all ! before removing the front face, one of two work, now, the two not working, i ear something happen into the horn cap but no sound, the relay make a little sound too when i tilt the ring horn. i have the horn of my 41 dodge but i don't want broke it when i test it on my 48 ...

ha ha this remind to me the same memory xith a 56 cadillac convertible big tune up on it and ticking sound like you and finaly after days of reserch it's only an exhaust leak ^^ i have the same problem on my 48 dodge, but in my case, i need to check the valve adjustment before anything else. this morning i going to replace the brake shoes of my 41 dodge coupe, i use this car as a daily she run & drive very fine but need some care after the last big travel i made with her ^^ i drove it for aproxymatly 1000 miles last week in the south of france it's a very very cool travel ! hi, i have a little problem with my dual air horn on my 48 dodge, when i tilt the horn ring, i can ear the relay and the horn make a kind "cloc cloc" but no sound like a real horn ... i try to adjust like is said in the shop manual but nothing ... someone have any idea ? i'm french and before buy anything i want to be sure of what is the problem ^^ the shipping coast from the usa to france are too much expansiv

i think the "horror stories" happen when peoples buy the car by using the help of car seller, in france is like this, i saw many cars with a good apearence, but when i open the hood, oh my gosh !! wires everywhere every colors, oil, grease, smoke, noises ! .... or if the boat is in trouble like last year, a boat burning, the captaine leave the boat and his crew, a 71 riviera, 58 corvette and another car is damadged by the heat of the fire, chromes, rubber and plastic part is good to be changed. i buy my dodge on ebay, i call the guy, i ask more pictures of under the car frame etc etc, pic of serial number and copy of title to be sure is matching and to be sure the car is in good shape and in good paper condition to be registred in france. if the seller do what i ask him, it's good, there is nothing hide. the people who ask the help of car seller don't thinking of all this details, the car seller just want sell cars and very expansiv, a 65 mustang, base, 289 v8 for exemple can be sold in original condition low or medium retail more or less $20000 in france !! if you have one, look for french buyer ha ha ha that's crazy ! i have a 48 dodge too and i buy it on ebay too, same way, i ask copy of title pic etc etc the guy said, is a not running engin, stack ... like this, i'm not surprised when i recived the car. always give a phone call, is better of only email, i don't speak very well english but it's also a proof for the seller i'm not conman from africa or anything else ^^ my 48 dodge, i'm the 4th owner too, all it's life in pennsylvania, original lisence plate. by the way, i'm looking for a rocker panel moulding right side, if someone know where i can find it ...

i take pictures of the part and it's not all what i have i have the original set of keys, with the original copy and tags and many other things this is a good surprise and a very good memorie too when i buy this car !! i'm very gracefull with the previous owner !! if someone see something want on this table, let me know, all the parts is not for 1941 dodge, i have parts for 49 chevy truck too all that things was in my trunk !

i'm the 4th owner of my 41 dodge, i have the first title (copy) from the 1st owner, and a letter from his niece when she sold the car to the 2nd owner, in this letter, i can reading the first owner work on the dodge assembly line in detroit, when he saw the car on the line, he take care himself of the assembling it from the beginning to the exit of the dodge plant. the car is from detroit, between 1941 to 1971 the first owner sell it in september 1963 1971 move in missoula montana to 2005 2005 to 2011 in saint louis missouri and now in france with me i have all brochures, accessories book, shop and part manual, salesman book, bills, and the previous owner give me a box with many original parts NOS the trunk was full of parts
