  1. After many years of being involved with this great group; I realize with my current work load I may never get my 50 plymouth conv. on the road. Santa brought me my other car love a 1990 corvette conv. This one runs and drives yet needs a few little things to help me relax in the garage when time allows. Now I will probably be selling the plymouth project soon to devote more time to the vette. I will still be around for a while (at least till i sell) and have greatly enjoyed this forum and cant thank everyone near enough for all the help over the years. thanks Rich
  2. they are pulling 9.166 amp each lamp. at 6 volt hope this helps Rich
  3. Im in Henderson (las Vegas) nevada and am building a 1950 plymouth conv. you are more than welcome to view my top mechanism or I can send pics. let me know how close you are. Rich Fleetwood
  4. I think the frame would be less of any issue. its the body that needs reinforced. the conv. also dont have thick rubber body mounts like the sedans. my real conv also has extra bracing from the door post to the floor this keeps the door post from flexing. the "torque box" i described runs from the firewall all the way to the rear quarter panel. its approx 4x4 in size and is thicker sheet metal something like 16 ga
  5. real conv. also had dash welded in place to streagnthen the body. as well as what looks almost like a torque box along the inside of the rockers instead of the just flat panels for rocker backings. Im rebuilding these on my 50 conv right now.
  6. Charley put me down for a 1950 plymouth kit. How do I go about the transaction? also what about youre shock relocation kits are they on the wayside too? PM me and let me know what to do Thanks Rich Fleetwood
  7. you could drill the head off the hinge bolt. then the loose nut will fall out. then look in the kick panel fro a way to put a nut and bolt for reatchment
  8. Bio Medical Field Service Engineer In other words I fix medical equipment Rich
  9. just turn the bolt 1/2 turn and they will be 999. now the car isnt evil
  10. ive been talking to "Fat Man Fab" they have the rack and pinion mount kit. The rack they say to use is chevy cavalier; I would assume this rack could be either power or manual as it was an option in the cars.
  11. Nice to meet you Joe; Im doing the same thing youre planning to my 50 Plymouth conv. I had to rebuild the floors, rockers, and conv only rocker boxes. Im installing a dodge van 318 and automatic trans. I am also doing disk brakes with original suspension but am currently contemplating a rack and pinion conversion for the steering. good luck with the car and keep us posted. Rich
  12. Now with Plydo out of the picture does anyone know where I can get chrysler 318 mounts for a 50 plymouth? Also is Rusty Hope (Charlie) offering his disk brake special for the holidays again? thanks Rich
  13. a quick way to check for vacuum leaks. spray carb cleaner on the suspected area whether this be hose attatchment or manifold seal with the car running. If the idle increases this is youre vacuum leak. that is were I would start.
  14. check youre grounds and check the dimmer switch. both these can cause wierd problems hope this helps Rich
  15. nice to see you progressing; im guessing work must be slowing down. I will be in Glascow starting the 29th for 3 weeks hopefully we can get together while im there. I will be just outside of Philly so I will have to do the tourist thing too. I'll call you or shoot an email as I get closer to see if you will be around. Rich Fleetwood
  16. If nothing else at least grab the bumpers and mounts. I wish it wasnt so far I would love those for my 50 custom. Rich
  17. If you miss the number there are plenty of trucks cruising the strip with that advertisements constantly. If you miss those there are people walking the strip giving out flyers all the time. Chet it was great having you out to the house; This has helped re spark my interest in the car and with the weather cooling I can get my but out in the garage again. thanks and I'll keep the forum posted on progress Rich
  18. I agree its finaly cooling off in Vegas only reaching about 100 to 105 during the day here. with the low humidity its really not bad Rich
  19. Chester Glad to hear you made it back to VA with no issues. It was great seeing you and I will definitely try to look you up when I'm in Delaware on my work trip. 20. no pics avail right now but my 1950 plymouth conv has 50 dodge bumpers on it. they were on the car when I bought it. since youre in town we can compare and check fit if you like. Rich
  21. Tred nice to hear from another local esp. with a 1950 Im rodding a real 1950 conv I live in Henderson born and raised. shoot me an email and we can talk more Rich Fleetwood rlf105@cox.net
  22. Has anyone done this on our cars? I am considering my options and really want tilt and turn signals. I am installing a 318 dodge and have thought about the rack and pinion conversion but since our cars steer so easily why reinvent the wheel. Any opinions help Thanks Rich
  23. sounds good were are you staying at? im in vegas and am born and raised. send me a private email at rlf105@cox.net and I'll give you my cell number. I work as an engineer at the Riviera thats why im asking which hotel. talk to ya later Rich Fleetwood
  24. if its the rubber bushings squeeking here is an old trick. mix some Dawn dish soap and water and pour on the rubber bushings. this will lubricate them which is a big problem here in the desert. I have done this on control arm bushings as any squeek or rattle just drives me insane. hope this helps Rich
  25. so the steering wheel (plymouth) and the chevy tilt share the same spline? That is a question I have been looking for a while. thanks for the post Rich
