  1. Merle, that bumper looks great, good job!! Thanks for the info & the photos guys, they will be a big help as Dav mentioned. Dav was kind enough to sell me a front bumper that i am using for the rear. This will be a project down the track a bit, as yesterday I took the "old girl" back home, to my Dad's farm about 3 hours away.(See photos) We have sold our property & are moving into a city apartment in Brisbane. (I have getting a lot of pressure from my wife & daughter for the move for a couple of years.) The project will be "hold" until i buy another place, maybe a weekender somewhere.
  2. I found an interesting photo of a pilothouse that a famous Australian artist (Albert Namatjira) owned. I saw a lot of Albert's paintings in Alice Springs (Central Australia) when I worked west of there, on oil & gas fields in the 1980's. It looks like he is all loaded up to go out to the MacDonnel Ranges, where he did a lot of his landscapes. Albert Namatjira (1902–1959), born Elea Namatjira, was a Western Aranda-speaking Aboriginal artist from the western MacDonnell Ranges in Australia. The most famous Aboriginal artist and one of Australia's most famous artists, he was one of the pioneers of contemporary Indigenous Australian art.
  3. Thanks Keven, will do mate!!
  4. Guys, I know this tread is supposed to be about side view mirrors, but while on the subject of rear bumpers, does anyone have a pattern / photos of the brackets for them? Desotodav kindly sold me a bumper, but as yet i havn't fitted it. Any help woud be appreciated!!
  5. Barry, it looks great & i bet its a good feeling to put some colour on. Like all painting most of the work is in the prep. I have been trying to get to that stage for about 6 months, but work & other priorities keep geeting in the way. That green was the origional colour of my 48, I am not sure yet what final colour i will chose, Every week i change my mind. Keep up the good work!!
  6. Thanks Moose for posting the info about the model on Ebay. Mine arrived yesterday. I had a quick look at it - AWESOME!! I have wrapped it up & labeled it "To Ian From Santa" & put it under the Christmas tree, just like Mr. Bean did with his Christmas present. My wife thinks I'm a loser!
  7. Congratulations Dav, well deserved for an awesome truck. The finish & detail made me very jealous!! I had a great day at the Chrysler meet & it was really good to chat to Dav & Ian T & swap Dodge war stories.
  8. The connecting hose on my 48 was cracked through. I sourced a new one from AMS Obsolete on E-bay for about $11 plus postage to Oz. Part Brand: MoPar Plymouth Dodge Chrysler DeSoto Manufacturer Part Number: 655498 I just googled the AMS Obsolete site & they have some in stock!
  9. Hi, I am interested in the bed but i need to freight it to Australia. What is the nearest seaport to you, so i can arrange freight. Thanks, Ian D.
