  1. Thank y'all. I got it in. Now according to the book the 3/16" ball is accelerator pump inlet and the 1/8" is for pump discharge. New issue. My carb is missing the fast idle lever return spring. Can I get that somewhere?
  2. Got the rebuild kit for my carb. Thanks for the recommendations, by the way. And now I getting it all back together. Got one issue though. Having all kinds of trouble getting that snap ring in over the accelerator pump check ball. Is there some sort of trick or just something I missing? Any advice would be most appreciated. It's the 3-106 carb. Thanx, Roscoe
  3. My truck is the same. Hit the gas pedal once and slowly depress it as I turn the ignition and she fires up every time. I have to stop myself from doing the same thing in the wife's jeep.
  4. My step-dad's father would do that checking for gas in the oil. I've always found smelling to be sufficient. Roscoe
  5. Thanx for the links. Roscoe
  6. Very cool.
  7. First, if this is in the wrong topic or if it's already been covered, I apologize. With that, Is is possible to get a carb rebuild kit for my 53 Coronet. It's the Red Ram Hemi with the Gyro-Matic. The numbers on the carb are 3-106. It looks pretty good, but I sure the accelerator pump is shot. Thanx, Roscoe Clyde
  8. It's off a late 60's Schwinn 3 speed. So is the sprocket and head light. I bought that bike strictly for the hub. It works great and shifts smooth.
  9. It's a Gyro-Matic. It uses the fluid. I believe you fill it through a hole in the floor board.
  10. In the last two weeks, I have become a Gyro-Matic expert. At least in theory. The selector is just Low, High, Neutral, and Reverse. Low will shift from 1st to 2nd with no clutch, but you have to lift off the gas. High is the same for 3rd and 4th. Buddy of mine says he never uses Low unless he's pulling his camper or starting on a hill. This is all new to me. A month ago I didn't know what a Gyro-Matic was. I think in 54 they started running Torque-Matic transmissions? Either way, learning new things every day. Roscoe Clyde
  11. The best advice I can give is from experience. The tree branch is never as strong as you think it is and the kid's swing set will not hold. Thanx, Roscoe Clyde
  12. Thanks for the warm welcome. A little information about the car... Red Ram Hemi Gyro-Matic 58K original miles She was repainted around 1979 or 1980. Been off the road for about 7 years. Check out some of the interior pics Thanx, Roscoe Clyde
  13. The red on is a old Western Flyer and the black one is just something I put together with a bunch of my spare parts. Roscoe Clyde
  14. Just want to introduce myself. I just picked up a 53 Coronet and was told this was the place to be. Always been a Ford guy, but when I saw this beauty, I just had to have her. As get into it further, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. Thanx, Roscoe Clyde
  15. I drive old cars almost exclusively. My daily, for the last 32 years, has been a 1970 F100, 300, 3 on-the-tree. Before that it was a 63 Falcon. My fair bride drove a 65 Mustang for like 10 years. Once I get it running good, my new daily will be a 53 Coronet. Nothing against newer cars, but I just don't have fun driving them. Too quiet, too easy.
