  1. Took my overdrive transmission apart for the umpteenth time to see if I could find out why it stopped working (would not engage). Discovered a piece of metal in the overdrive case. It appears to be a tab that was on the mounting plate. The other part of it is in the second picture. Does anyone know what this piece does? I could not find any reference to it in any of the manuals I have. Thanks. Jim Yergin

  3. Fred, Looks great. For even better effect you should post a before picture to show what you started with. Jim Yergin
  4. Joe, Do you think this indicates a problem? I agree, it will make itself known eventually. Jim Yergin
  5. No need to. It looks like some one else wanted it more than me. Jim Yergin
  6. Tom, I like your car. Thanks for posting the pictures. Question: Did you paint the red background on the Special Deluxe emblem on the sides of the car or did it come to you that way? I have heard conflicting stories about what they were originally. I painted mine red because I like the look. Jim Yergin
  7. In case anyone cares, I am the bidder on that item. Jim Yergin

  10. Are you thinking of the Brillman Co.? http://www.brillman.com/ Jim Yergin
  11. I had an old Mustang once where the gauge just went to full even though I didn't have a full tank. Turned out the float on the sending unit arm had fallen off so the arm just stayed up and the gauge read full. Jim Yergin
  12. Ed, The crankshaft is done and ready to be picked up this weekend. The block should be done next week. Jim Yergin
  13. Congratulations Joe! I wondered why the sun was shining extra bright today. Knowing that the engine works and that your rebuild was correctly done must be a great relief. The remaining problems are minor compared to the hurdle you just crossed. Enjoy and appreciate what you have accomplished. Jim Yergin
  14. Don, I think most of the Plymouth woodie bodies were made by U.S. Body & Forging. I know the one on my '41 was built by that company. Jim Yergin
  15. If you use the original master and the in-line residual valves Frankie47 mentioned, you may need to remove the internal residual valve in the master. With it in there, I had a periodic problem with the disc brakes not releasing. Some people on this forum reported the same problem and others reported no such problem. Jim Yergin
  16. I paid $80 and got the box too. Jim Yergin
  17. On my P12, it helped to disconnect the column from the dash so that the whole assembly could lay down on the seat. That way you can withdraw the inner column in a more forward direction than downwards. Otherwise the car should really be on a lift to get enough room underneath to remove it. Jim Yergin
  18. Rodney, Isn't Atlantic City one of the areas being hit the hardest with snow right now? Be careful traveling there and have a great time. Jim Yergin
  19. I used part #EC-441. I have a pdf copy of the installation instructions. I can send them to you if you give me an email address either here or in a PM. Jim Yergin
  20. I installed the ECI bracket and dual master cylinder in my '41. I have four wheel disk brakes on my car. The master cylinder is a Corvette unit. It is relocated from in front of the brake pedal to behind the pedal. I had to grind off the corner of the boss on the lower rear corner to get it to fit. I also had to raise the attachment point for the clutch pedal return spring so that it would not interfere with the new brake pedal push rod pivot. Despite all that, I am very pleased with how it operates. I had tried using a dual reservoir master in the location in front of the pedal but the travel was wrong. To get it to go far enough to work, the push rod could not return far enough to clear the relief hole and the brakes would lock up. Jim Yergin

  22. Tom, Glad to hear it arrived and that it will work for you. Was I correct that the larger diameter is the intake valve? Jim Yergin
  23. Tom, It went out in this morning's mail. Jim Yergin
