  1. My friends and i took our old trucks to Osage City and took some pics at the old gas station. I think he has some pics on the hamb.
  2. I love the original look of the Roberts mat but i didn't have good luck with is lasting. It began to crack where i got into the battery box after 3-4 years with it parked in the garage where the sun couldn't get to it. I think it is made with cheap imported materials. Just my 2 cents.
  3. That looks awesome. I also had Charlie do mine and they turned out great. Quick turnaround and a pleasure to do business with.
  4. I went to TSC and got my mat now here is the final product. Looks good but am having trouble with it wanting to roll up on the edges from being in the roll so long. I made sill plates to hold it down at the door. I like th look and it will last a long time being 1/4 thick.
  5. ok you guys. Yes I live in Kansas and have enjoyed your pics. Toto and Dorthy went with me this week end and we went to TSC (Tractor Supply C0.) and they had just what you guys showed. It was $56 but I will also have enough to do my '53 chevy truck. Beats the $89 or so for a cheap repo. I will post a pic when I get it done. Thanks for the tip. I'm just glad I married Dorthy and not the "Wicked Witch of the West" although sometimes I wonder.
  6. We don't have a Fleet Farm around here I suppose you could get it at any good farm store? We have Orchliens and TSC (Tractor Supply Co.) around here. I will check this week end. It looks good and solid and not as expensive as a Roberts replacement mat. Thanks Guys.
  7. What is antifatigue mat? Is it a mat for standing on while working in your shop type of thing?
  8. I know that I don't have a pilot house truck I have a '46 WC but I was wondering if you guys knew of a good place to get either a good rubber floor mat or a nice fit carpet for my 46 Dodge. a few years ago I bought a original style repo mat from Roberts and it has went to crap. Started cracking after a couple of years and now is in 3 peices. Need to replace but don't want crap again. Any ideas? Where do you guys get you quality stuff?
  9. Man, I never knew case made a car. and yes I do use a chainsaw to rough out my bigger carvings and then detail with a grinder and chisels. Keeps me out of trouble.
  10. Carving is what i like to do when i get frustrated with my mechanical abillities. It's good therapy. Here is a pic of the bear i did last year.
  11. That eagle looks just like the old case advertisement that was used for case tractors. Wonder if they also sold them?? Here is a pic of one i carved for a friend who was redoing an old case dealership.
  12. I will do them for you and send a pic before i send them. It will be a couple of weeks. What is your e-mail address?
  13. I had the tail gate down in 1994 and my neighbor moved to kansas city. I'm sure there are a lot of graphic vinyl people out there who could do the job. Sorry not much help but just thought is was a good way to avoid the pitfalls of painting. It has held up very well over the years and she also did the pinstriping with vinyl and filled in my grill. I really like it.
  14. It would probably take $75 a piece to do the air cleaner tops and you could buy the Mr. Gasket air breathers to put them on and that would be made to your specs and sanded and polished the best I can. If you didn't like them you could send them back and i would refund your money. What do you think? I am not a pro.
  15. I had my neighbor who does vinyl stencils on the computer make mine.
  16. I will have to think this over as they are time consuming and sometime you spend a lot of time making the styrofoam mold and then the casting does't turn out and then you are back to making another mold. What would it be worth to you guys?? did you notice the ram head block off plate on the original carb mount?
  17. Thanks for all the great ideas. I went with JBWeld and it seems to be working fine so far. I have not taken a long trip over 10 min yet but have got the engine up to temp cruising around town. I hope it holds on a longer trip.
  18. Also to answer you request for the air conditioner pics. This bracket is a home made bracket that bolts down to the top of the head bolts so i don't know if it will work for an finned head.
  19. I'm glad you like my air cleaners. I teach Industrial Tech. Classes in the High School and we do a little aluminium casting. They are a home made styrofoam investment cast of my design cast in aluminium. They are a little pitted when you look close but i thought they turned out nice. The bases are Mr. Gasket #1419. The linkage for the throttle is a standard46 dodge truck linkage with linkage setup from George Ashse for the carbs. It bolts over the bell housing to get it on the left side of the engine campartment so really tough to get a pic.
  20. I thought you guys would like to see some pics of my Dual Carter BB set up. I just got it installed today and will get the exhaust done tommorrow. Charlie @ Rusty Hope did my manifolds and did a wonderful job, I would reccommend him if you are going this direction. My linkage was from George Ashse and the install was fairly straight forward. The info i recieved from you guys and doing searchs on this sight made it a lot eaisier for me. What a great forum.
  21. Thanks for all the good info. I like the idea of drilling it out and tapping to the next size stud. I already put the jb weld to the test and will let you know. Thanks for all the good info, i am so glad I found you guys as flathead six info has been hard to come by until I found this site. Thanks again.
  22. So i broke off one of my exhaust manifold studs today and tried to drill it out. I got it out but the bit wandered a little and ate some of the threads on the block. I put thread sealer on the stud and reassembled with a new stud. You guested it. It started a slow leak of antifreeze on my manifold. Nice white steam comming up from the engine. So my question is will JB Weld spread on the stud threads and dabbed into the drilled area before resembly do the job and stop the leak?? It is a small leak and i took out the top threads when i drilled it out. What do you guys think is the best way to fix it?
  23. thanks for all the input. The color is Dupont B8750 Med Cabernet Red, ford 87-93 code 2H . Yes i do have the gasket in and it whistles at any setting when going into the wind. I usually do not open my crank windshield as the gears ar a little stripped and do't know if i will get it shut again. The whistle comes from air blowing over the vent hole but i can't figure out why it would be deaigned that way. I put some soft putty into the drain hole hopping that would cause it to stop but that just caused more work digging it out after i found out it didn't change anything. And you are right, rattles and noises can drive you crazy.
  24. Maybe just a good set of ear plugs. like i wear when the wife is with me.
