  4. Had this car for a while and just got started going over it. Body is good except for two fixable dents and lots of surface rust.Floor pans are very bad but repairable. No headliner but the bows are there. All the wiring needs replaced.Dash has rust near the windshield. Yesterday I pulled the plugs(hard to get out)and shot some penetrating oil in the cylinders, let it set while I Pulled out all the junk the previous owner had left inside so I could take a good look at the floor pans and wiring under the dash. In that junk was 4 original 16" rims, the radio, original hub caps and one nice trim piece. One piece of belt moulding is missing.I sprayed the cylinders again, did more oveall inspecting, then tried to turn the engine using the fan blade. To my surprise, the engine turned a little so I shot some more in and continued to rock the fan blade forward and back til I got good movement. Removed the dist.cap and turned it more to make sure everything was free. I will have a lot of questions for you guys later. Regards, Woody
  5. I just completed mine. Regards, Woody
  6. I shot myself in the foot. I mailed a check today fot $39.38 for ONE outer rocker for my 1950 DeSoto. Paid $20 for the part the rest in shipping. Thought I was getting a bargin. I went to Whitneys web and the DeSoto was not listed as an option. Were thy all the same these year Mopars? Thanks, Woody
  7. This discussion takes me down Memory Lane. I just turned 60 in Aug. The first car I owned at age 15 was a 1939 Mercury Convertable. Saw it sitting in a neighbors barn behind their house. Traded my bike and $15 boot for it. Had a friend help me pull it home. It never ran. I knew nothing about cars and due to my Mothers illness I could not get my Dad interested enough to help me. My next one was a running 1941 Plymouth 4-door. That was 2 years and after my Mothers death. I paid a whopping $50 for this one. It had no grill or front bumper and at night the headlight beams would bounce up and down as I drove. I bought one like it about 18 months ago. Have not had time or $$$ to do anything with it yet. I also now have a running 1950 DeSoto that I got 3 years ago. I check out this forum daily and really enjoy being here. Regards, Woody
  8. I just bought one on ebay for $12.99 including shipping. Pre-cut to length and 2 clamps. Can you get these on without removing the tank? If sowhat is the easiest way ro remove the old one and insstall the new one? Thanks, Woody
  9. I have a 1950 DeSoto Custom that I drive whenever time and weather permit.I have had the car for three years.Engine was froze when I got it. Once I got her going, It was like she told me what she needed next. The more I drove her the more things I found that needed attention. I would fix one problem and then find another. Four or five miles at a time was all I would do as I found and fixed various problems. Happy to say my last drive two months ago was 50 Miles and obtained a hiway speed of 60 mph. For me, that was a Milestone. Why have them if you can't enjoy them??? Regards, Woody
  10. All SUVs that park on both sides of my Crown Vic in parking lots, boocking my vision while trying to back out of a parking spot. Guess I should include those Big Assed Pick-ups too. One of these days someone is going to knock the ass off of Vicky because I can't see them and they can't see me. Regards, Woody
