  1. Let me just say that I am not brave enought to get under a lift that is way up in the air. My may goal is packing wheel bearings, changing tires, adjusting brakes, those types of things. As I get older 61 last week I have become very carefull about what I do. While changing oil I know that I will need to get under the car, but let me assure you that in addition to what safety feature may come with any life I will also have car jackets under each of the four corners. Carmen
  2. Hello Everyone I was just wondering how many of you guys have a car lift in your garage? I would love to get one but like all things in life money is always the problem. Those that do have one what kind or make is it? I have a 3/4 ton truck a 1/4 ton jeep my car a 41 Plymouth and I am working on a 5/4 M715 Jeep. So what you recommed I look at? Thanks Carmen

    Chrome

Where do you guys suggest that I send small parts to get chrome. For example door handels? Thanks Carmen
  4. Another question I have on the water pump. Is there one brand better than another? I see that NAPA has one but are they as good as what some of you guys may have on your engine? Carmen
  5. Thanks Don I never saw anything like that bet it helps when it rains. The line are connect to ?? I had my vacuum pump rebuilt and while it does work OK I bet with this as a back up it works GREAT. Once my engine is rebuilt it should work better.
  6. Wow I never saw that I sure hope someone can post some pictures of this set up. Carmen
  7. Thanks Don I know it would only take me a few minutes of my time, truthfully that is the way I am leading. My real main concern was what is best for a newly rebuilt engine. I know that those water pumps worked on those cars when they were first made way back when, but I wonder that if they had a seal water pump then would they have used it. Thats all. I have a 1944 MB Jeep that I restored and still have as well as a 1954 Dodge M37. I drive either one of them at least 2-3 times a week during good weather, but never ever in the snow. I had the engine and transmission rebuilt on both of them and they run great. But this car has stole my heart and I only want what is best for her. Carmen PS. Looked at some of your vidios I love them. I really like that gas tank shaker.
  8. Ok Guys Been getting a lot of helpful idea on my radiator for my 41 P12 sedan and I am pretty sure what direction I will be heading. Now how about the water pump. I would like to get the original one rebuilt, put then I would have to grease it every so aften. This means more work and less fun time driving. What are your thoughts? Thanks Carmen
  9. Hello aero 3113 That looks pretty cool. You don't have to worry about your radiator overheating any more do you?. If it does you have other issues. Carmen
  10. Thanks Littlemo but if I am going through all the trouble of a rebuilt engine I am going to get a new radiator. I hail from northeast Pa. I say I am about 1500 miles away. Carmen
  11. They are the one's I have been looking at. Can someone explain what the difference is between a 2 -3 and 4 row radiator is? I assume that the more rows the better the cooling is for your engine - right? At those pricies it would be better to get a NEW radiator than to have your old one rebuilt. Once you paint it no one will ever know. Thanks Carmen
  12. I will soon be having my engine rebuilt for my 41 P12. No I am not going to be doing it myself. I know you guys make it look eazy, but I am not going down that road. My question is I am going to repalce my radiator, what is the perfect drop in replalment for what is in there now. It is a stock radiator. The model you guys use would be very helpful, rather than just telling me the name of the company that sells them. Thanks Carmen
  13. Thanks for the info. But what if your stainless is missing? Who sells it?
  14. Hello Guys Tell me how do you paint in the red after you had the part chromed? For example the Hub Caps or even parts of the front and rear bumper have red stripes in them. I just cant seem to firgure it out. Thanks Carmen
  15. Wow you guys are good. I have learned so much from this site. Tell me what you used for the stainles. I know most you might reuse the one that came with your car, but how about if the stainless is all rusted? Thanks Carmen
  16. Well, it looks like that I am going to finally rebuilt my engine on my 41 P12. For those of you that have already done this and to those of you who wish they can do this - I would like to know what you would have done differently to your engine, when you were having it rebuilt. What pit-falls should I be made aware of? I am pretty sure that this will be the first time in 70 years that this engine has been out of this car so I want to do it right. I don't mind spending the money but I sure as heck don't want to see oil dripping out from the bottom in a year and I don't want to have any over heating problem with it. Whether I use it in a parade or not. Would love to put an overdrive in it, but I am pretty sure that will be outside my budget. I will be getting the transmission rebuilt thou. Any suggestion please don't hold back. Thanks Carmen
  17. I was worried that the battery needed a box even thou it was under the hood. So all I really need is a hold down clamp. Great and thanks for the info. Carmen
  18. I have restored and still have a Dodge M37 and last year I upgrade that truck to a full set of disc brakes and a dual M/C. Yes we did have to doa little drilling but it was nothing that I couldnt handle. Point is I am not affair to get dirty. Carmen
  19. Ok last question for the day. I have 1941 P12 Four Door. I love it. Anyway, I have read that the battery was enclosed in a box. I cant seem to fine a picture of one to see what it looks like. If any of you have one please let me know. Thanks Carmen
  20. Hi All I have a 41 P12 4 door. I am flushing my brake system but at the same time I would like to upgrade my M/C to a dual M/C. I have only drums on my car but would feel safer with this upgrade. Is there a direct bolt on M/C that I can buy? Pictures would be helpful. Thanks Carmen
  21. Hi All I have a 41 P12 4 door that I want to flush out the brakes. I have never done this and really have no idea on how. I have blead the system for air before but never flushed it. Is there a special oil that I use to flush out the system? Do I let it sit over night? Any help. Thanks Carmen
  22. Hi All I have an 41 P12 4 door that I have been doing a rolling restoration on until I can do a complete job. It has 57K miles on it when I first got it, I have since put on about 3K. The interior is Blue with strips going through it and the side alone the bottom of the seat is a gray color. The carpet is gray - I think as is the foot rest and helping rope. The door panels are the same - blue on top and gray on the bottom half with a thin piece of S/S between them. I am sure that it looked great when it was new. My question is this. I would like to see how it looked when it was new as well as the other styles that were offered that year, is there a book or someplace that would have that information? Thanks Carmen
  23. Just wanted to know - With the visor is there a problem when opening the hood? Thanks Carmen
  24. Now I like that one too. I don't mind drilling into the doors. As you said they are solid. The clip-on ones after a little while they become lose.
  25. Thanks guys. I kind of like the one that BobT has on his ride. While I know that you have to drill a little hold in the sheet metal, I think that it makes it look like it came with the car rather than having something that was added to it. Carmen
