  1. My motor is sealed. Wish it had screws for disassembly. Bought a 2 quart can of tomato juice that I will use for my vacuum can. Will see how it works.
  2. Not functioning at all. Replaced hose, removed motor, sprayed inside with PB Blaster as much as I could and worked it free. Hooked up and let it run for a bit. Resprayed with carb cleaner to clean it out some. Lubed all I could with some sewing machine oil and reinstalled. PB'd the wiper shafts, cleaned and oiled. Inserts for arms to motor were missing. Nylon licence plate nut fit in 1/2 inch hole well. Drilled out threaded portion for a nice fit on the motor arm. Darn things work like new. Now to finish running wires for turn signals. Also installed Hood ornament lights just for kicks. Drove it twice to auto parts store and once to the hardware and bakery. Like I said; I'ts a daily driver.
  3. Looks so good I'll take a few minutes and do mine as a high beam indicator too.
  4. Fully disassembled, cleaned, painted and put back together with the old spring. Doesn't function well but it does give a jerky, rough indication of my speed. Clock shops localy no help at all. "We don't sell parts" "We don't work on speedometers" and my answer is "You don't get the repair work on my Grandfather clock". Had two jewelry shops that offered to help but they didn't have a spring large enough from their watch repair items. Will keep looking on line for a comparable spring and may take a look in salvage yard for older Mopar instruments. The quest continues............
  5. Thanks Don. Will attempt to pull broken shaft out of needle and see if I can silver solder it back together. Unwound the spring from shaft and it just might kind of work. Going to go to clock repair shop and see if I can come close to the right spring after that. Called several Repair shops and they only want to do Restorations at $300 a pop. Mines a daily driver; every day since I put it back on the road. Just don't want to get a ticket driving through a school zone or something.
  6. Has anyone replaced there P15 speedometer needle or have a picture of the back side of one. How does it come off shaft ? And does anyone have an internal pic showing the hair spring ?
  7. My very old greasy and well used service manual says to use SAE 80 FGL in the trans. Have spent 2 hours on line trying to find an equivelent modern grade and gotten nowhere.
  8. Why a diesel oil ? An example of what trans/gear oil ?
  9. What are the engine, trans and differential fluids every one is using now ? Topped everything off when I got the car last year and oil and filter change in engine. Put about a hundred miles on it this week since I got it legal to drive and doing ten to twenty miles a day now. Plan on renewing all fluids first really nice day next week and would like some suggestions. Oil pressure is running a little low at this time and will rebuild/replace pump soon.
  10. Wow ! I didn't think I was going 110 MPH. Didn't feel like it.
  11. Guess I'll wait until I pull the pan.
  12. Just won a pretty rough looking dash panel on E Pay. Hope it has internals I can use. Should know in a few days. Do need a needle though.
  13. Can anyone tell me what rear main seal to get for my 49 first series P15 ? Rope or rubber or what /
  14. 10-30. When I first got it pressure was a lot higher. I'm thinking that after having driven it some now with new oil and filter that it has cleaned out a lot of 24 year old gunk in the pump and all. Should I put just a few more miles on it and then do the oil and filter thing again. Have new oil pan gasket I want to install anyway. Does that pan come out without jacking up the engine ? Will check out valve and spring too.
  15. Yes. The one under the needle and I think I broke the needle too. Guess I need another speedo. Darn and I want to drive it. Got the wire all unwound and I think I could fix this if I could figure out the needle. Anyone have a picture of the pin on it. Doesn-t look broken but it must be as it won't go into shaft hole.
  16. Valve from a power brake booster to manifold and a fitting to wipers. I think a grapefruit can should hold the minimal pressure. Cheap experiment anyway.
  17. Coiled wire is broken. Does anyone have a picture of how many coils it should actually be ?
  18. Want to make vacuum canister for wipers. Is a 2 quart can big enough to help ?
  19. Idling about 20 and running 35. Is this too low ? New filter and oil. See people talking about pressure above 50 so it has me worried.
  20. Went cruising most of the day today. No major problems other than Speedometer not working but odometer is. Oldaddy's disc system will make you eat the steering wheel and new rear and new relocated front shocks ride real nice compared to old stuff. Oh what fun.
  21. New cable was working fine for a few miles. What has me confused is that the odometer is still working. Does anyone have internal pics ?
  22. New cable and odometer works but speedo doesn't. Any ideas ?
  23. Plumbed right. Going to go back and readjust rears. Can't wait to thow this rear axel in the trash.
  24. I stand corrected. UPPER ams are SAME part number. Lowers have different numbers.
  25. Parts book shows different numbers though. ERROR See below
