  1. My Dodge D25 BC was imported from Canada by the previous owner (now deceased). I have found a 1945 truck I really want in Manitoba that has no title. Is it impossible to export the truck without a title? How hard is it to get a new title issued in CA? The seller did not get a title from the deceased person who sold it to him. Seller has no knowledge of possibility or how to apply for a new title. Thanks for any advice or direction.

  4. Welcome! I have a '38 Diamond T 201 pick up. Well...for the next week anyway....it's on eBay. It hard to find any discussion forums for Diamond Ts.
  5. Cutting stock coils almost always makes the ride horrible. I've done this on 3-4 cars in my life, every time I wound up replacing the springs I ruined by cutting them. Better to find shorter springs with a better spring rate than cut the originals IMO....
  6. Thanks to all for the replies. I finally got it out. It was a mess and the float arm was rusted in place. Once it was out, I removed the rivets, cleaned up the internal parts and I think I got it working again. I'll have to check it tommorow. I also pulled the tank out and gave it a good cleaning. Inside, it had a couple of cups of rust, sand and wasps. All is well for now. Thanks again, Dave
  7. I'm having trouble getting my fuel sender out or off of the tank. I took all the screws out and I've been prying on it untill the plate is getting distorted but it wont come out. It seems to be sticking where the rivets are, but i don't think I'm supposed to grind them off. Does this thing twist off? The car is a '48 D25. Thanks for any help.
  8. I used Permatex 2 on them. I also used sockets (in varying sizes) as drifts. I bought 12 plugs, installed seven them and pulled them out for the sole purpose of testing them. They all seemed loose to me. Anyway, since I'm going to replace all five on the side of the block, with the engine in, something I can bolt seems a lot more appealing than swinging a hammer where there's so little room.
  9. I drove the D25 today for the first time with the new engine. It runs good, but three of the five freeze plugs are leaking. I installed several of these (1-5/8" concave discs) while the engine was on the stand. I removed a few and re-installed them just to check how tight they were. I tested various dimples from small to large, deeper, wider etc. Ultimately, I installed all of them with the dimple size that seemed tightest, but I never had confidence in them, because they seemed too easy to pull out. I should have known better than to use them. Moving on, I doubt I will be able to install another set with the engine in the car any better than I did on the stand, so I'm looking for an alternative. I read previous threads on the topic and there were a couple of mentions of Dorman 568-010 (metal with a spreader bolt). For lack of an alternative, I'm thinking of replacing all five with these. I used the rubber expansion plugs on a few projects years ago (SBC) and never had a problem with them. Has anyone had experience with these on the flathead 6s? What do you think would be better to use between the Dorman bolted plugs or rubber expanders? I hope I only have to do this one more time!

  14. I knew a Canuck would notice it! While the grille was off the car I took it apart for a good cleaning. Two of the vertical bars have the bottom 1/4 of them broken/missing. After looking at the grill like this, I was debating on leaving it this way until I can find a couple of replacement bars.

  16. No, I don't have the original carb, which I'm guessing was a Carter. I have a 3spd manual trans (no fluid drive) in a '48 D25. The engine is a '53 Ply 228 (bored to 237) Thanks!
  17. My D25 has a Stromberg BXV-3 on it that needs a kit (out of production or too much $$$). I would like to get an original type Carter to put on it. Does anyone know the Carter model numbers that would bolt up? I'm guessing the fittings and linkage locations are probably the same on the D25 as P-15 & D24 ? Thanks!

  21. Anyone know what this vacuum line goes to? It ports off of the intake and looks like it went somewhere before it was disassembled by the PO. I have the line from the carb to vac. advance....can't think of another use for vacuum on the D25. The car is a 3sp manual. Thanks, Dave
  22. I set the engine & bell housing in today. It's was a tight fit, the load leveler was a big help. I'm hooking up all the external stuff now. I think I'm missing the rear, lower mount rubber...if it had any. -Dave
  23. Lots of auto parts stores loan tools for free (w/refundable deposit, which is usually the cost of the tool). I borrowed this C-clamp from AutoZone. Depending on which valves you are replacing, this type may have manifold clearance issues.

(237) and the head was milled some, perhaps it's pulling 110-115 hp? Fireball, Thanks, I think that's all I need for the H brake now.
