  1. Hey andy, Thanks and yes, I will ring monday/tuesday.. Have to speak to the machinist about piston size needed...
  2. Thanks, yes The machinist is going to measure and then let me know. I still have another engine KEW..but am hesitant to clean it up and get is going..I have to take head off, I could spend time / money on that and then still have the same result: a stuffed engine.. so hence I wanted to stay with the original engine the T173
  3. Thanks for the reply, a Piston set here in Australia is around $800 bucks, thats just the pistons, no guides or pins.. so, i Thought I get them from the states, hence the question. chhers ryan
  4. Hi folk, well had the bad news today.. need new pistons for my T173, sleeves and a whole lot more. loads of money if I use the engineers... So, Wonder if any one here can help me with a set of oversize pistons or other engine parts bearings etc? cheers ryan
  5. Hi, i am a panelbeater , well ex one... but may be able to tell you what works and what doesnt.. some short cuts and how to do it cheap Cheers ryan
  6. I know, its in OZ... but still worth looking.. not? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1947-Nash-600-Super-4740-Super-White-3sp-M-Sedan_W0QQitemZ220481026756QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars?hash=item3355b17ac4 What a machine!
  7. Ok, so I have 2 different trucks. Just out of interest, If you had the 2 trucks, would you use the 108B KEW engine (1954) and drop that one in the 1950's 108 or... Would you use the whole 108B setup (chassis + complete running gear) and drop the 108 Cab on it (would need some modification with steering). All the panelwork is stuffed on this one..see the photos in my profile. I am wavering to overhaul the T173 and use the original 1950 truck setup... cheers Ryan BTW I love this forum!
  8. Hi Tony Thanks for that, I have posted more photos in my profile, I will make some of the carbs in detail. I was just wondering if the engine was different would the carb not work on it?
  9. Ok, thanks for the help with the belhouse, here is the next question. Panelbeating is easy for me as I am an ex panelbeater, but mechanics is different. I have 2 trucks, one is a 1950, FN108 with a T173 engine (seized) the other truck is a 108B, 1954? with a KEW? or KEV 2B engine, turning over but not running. The chassis looks the same but I see there are differents in the steering setup and I think the gearbox of the 108B maybe a 4 speed. I want to use the running gear of the KEW 2B engine as this one is not seized and I may be able to get it going again. I am aware the other difference is the 108B is 12V. The questions for the moment are: Are the carb's the same, are they and or other parts interchangeble? would it make a difference using the carb from the T173 engine on the other engine the Kew 2B? Can I use the 4 speed gearbox (if it is one) of the 108B with the diff thats in the 108? I think the 108 is a 3 speed. Are there any other things I should look out for? Cheers Ryan
  10. Hi Tony, thanks for the reply. I have it off, ended up cutting them with a thin cutting disk, they would not move! And that in the heat of the day! Greetings Ryan
  11. hi Bob, thanks, the carb is in the middle, its a T 173 engine, although i got a little movement its not enough. i am thinking about cutting or drilling out the pins.
  12. :)Hi, first time here. I am stuck trying to remove the belhouse of my 1950 Model FN108 Fargo ute. I have removed the gearbox and undone all the bolts holding the belhouse to the engine, but I cannot lift it upwards due to two pins on either side of the engine. Somehow these pins hold the belhouse in place. Have read the manual but there is no mention of how to do this. Appreciate any help, any suggestions Cheers Ryan
