  20. see latest email from steve Hi Tony, Ryan, we already exhausted that avenue and the standard 251 pistons are ..022 inches larger than the 3-3/8" +.040 bore that you need. This means if you could find 251 standard pistons you will still have to bore your cylinders another .022 inches. Since the standard 251 pistons are harder to find than the ones we have being machined it doesn't make sense to go that way. Steve Hi Steve I know, found that out in the mean time, and if in trouble locating any suitable pistons, some folk suggested standard 251 pistons can be used as .040+ for the 218 engine. regards Cheers Ryan v Mastrigt 0413998759 -------Original Message------- From: Steve Date: 16/02/2010 3:07:49 AM To: mastrigt Subject: Re: re-ordering the right pistons Fargo 1950 truck Ryan, we would not have information for Canadian built engines. Steve Steve, Many folk have indentified this engine as The Canadian long block 218. It has stock bore of 3.375 according to the Allpar website for Canadian engines.. and it only stated the cubes went from 201 to 234 based on stroke used. Originally Posted by Bob_Koch If the block is stamped as T137 then I would tend to believe it's a 49-50 engine. This may help. 21. Hey, Tony here are the measurments again: measurment of the lenght of block face = excactly 25. 5/8" inch this is measured from end to end on the face (not the head just the face of the block) The Piston / Bore = 3. 3/8" inch Conrod lenght = 8" inch measured from centre of the pin (top of piston) to centre of where the bearing is held." VPH said they have to modifying pistons to make them fit...
  22. Thanks Tim, see email i finally recieved from Vintage Power House..They say the engine is from 39-40 and has an unsual bore.. "Ryan, you will note that we have issued 2 credit memos which will post against the current order for the 3-3/8" .040 pistons and rings. Keep the other pistons and rings. We are waiting for the your current pistons to be ground to size as they are not common and do not exist ready off the shelf. We hope to be able to ship these in about a week to 10 days. Steve
