  1. Welcome...I think you will enjoy yourself here. Pat
  2. You guys also keep mentioning the wire inside the distributor that alot of you have had trouble with. I think someone even has a picture of the wire. I'm not that far along yet (don't even have distributor yet)
  3. Hygrade Carburetor Repair Kit, Division of Standard Motor Products. Part number 101A UPC# 0 21769 06648 2 There should be an alpha-numeric number stamped on the slanted fin over the bowl...that is your carb model number.
  4. Big rig parts houses and dealers have these in a few different models, (all 12 volt though).
  5. Sounds like it's just low on fluid to me. I'd recommend changing it if it hasn't been done yet. Makes a big difference.
  6. Must have been a real thrill for your son and you. Seems like a decent thing for Jesse to do as well. (edited a bit to reduce background and highlight the subjects...hope you don't mind)
  7. Congratulations Bob!! Nice Christmas present for Gramma and Grammpa. If you want to email me a pic, I will gladly post it for you. Pat Here is the photo for Bob
  8. Norm, as I said, I am also resistant to change, but do go along reluctantly. As to changing computers often, I am on I think # 8 or 9 in 11 years. The first few were real cheapies that I only kept long enough to realize how outdated they were for myself. I was told, but did I listen?...NO! This one is about 2 years old and only has Windows 2000 Professional on it I will probably do the upgrade to XP soon...about the time Vista comes out If you are still on 98, I really liked it because I was comfortable with it and didn't want to change, but you'll find 2000 pretty well the same as far as using it goes, it's just a bit better than 98. My concern about 98 was that Microsoft is going to stop supporting it soon and then I WILL run into trouble. I have no problem with 2000 I'm generally not on the leading edge of this stuff, but waaay back in the cheap seats. I think that being a bit resistant to change is why I like the Old Mopars. No computers, no bells, no whistles and just a simpler machine. There is something to be said for simple;)
  9. I use the "New Posts" button and it really feels like the old forum alot. I have never lost a post due to the forum, they have all been my own fault. I don't mind change on the computer, after all, if I had resisted change and never upgraded from the Comodore 64, I wouldn't have discovered the internet, and I wouldn't have discovered this forum. I have gone through several upgraded computers, browsers, internet connections and speeds, printers, tapes, 5 1/2 floppys, 3 1/2 floppys, CD's, monitors etc etc I don't really look forward to the changes but I have never really regretted keeping up with this technology. Keeps the Alzheimers at bay "The only people who do not change are in asylums or graveyards"
  10. I think that is a great idea. Like Don, I have a few parts here from forum members that will be a memorable part of my car. Thanks to them and thanks to Gerald for a great forum.
  11. I don't know how it works down under, but here the DOT (Department of Transport) goes by the rated capacity of the tires to determine ACTUAL GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) Even if the registration says the vehicle is rated for a certain weight, if the vehicle is inspected at a highway inspection station/weigh scale, the tires determine the actual capacity not the registration. Some owners cheap out on tires and expect that the truck can still carry what the manufacturer rated it for, but the use of lower rated tires also lowers the legal GVW. Might be something to check with your locals (the place where they weigh and inspect the highway big rigs). The weight rating is on the tire sidewall. That also determines the placement of the cargo, so that the front tires are not overloaded by having the cargo to far forward.
  12. Are those Middle East stats or North American?
  13. I said Camel because it was too soon to ruin it:D (I wouldn't walk 10 feet for one)
  14. The Santa's are wood...they can't drive silly!!!
  15. Camel?
  16. Wow, is that ever nice!!! Welcome to the best forum on the 'net. My car isn't a P15 or D24 but I feel very welcome. You aren't alone with your Plymouth. Tell us more and more pics, too Pat 1949 Chrysler
  17. I have a problem with all the franchises in this type of industry. Why do they need to belong to a franchise? If they were any damn good, they could hang out a shingle and do quite well. The reason most go for a franchise is because they have no idea about how to do what needs to be done without the company "training". They also don't have clue about how to run a business, so they rely on the head office to "train" them. So, employing a franchise really only gets you some trained seals. You can do the work yourself with just as much professionalism. If you want REAL professionals, find a local business in the industry you need who has been around for a while and check them out. Most of the time you will be better off. In all cases when it comes to home contractors, you really have to do your homework because as was posted those crooks can put a lien on your house and cost a kings ransom in legal bills. They only have to perform work. The quality and quantity of work isn't usually up for debate. A sad thing to find out after the fact when you call the cops and they say..."sorry, it's a civil matter...good luck"
  18. I just love that grille.
  19. Looks like a decent start...what are your plans for it?
  20. Tim, check the link, there are a few more pics there.
  21. I don't think you really have to remove the dent as much as have the driveshaft balanced to negate the effects of the dent.
  22. I have had about 300 as well, but I'm 20 years older so you got me beat. I started writing them down in a book about 25 years ago after a friend asked me how many vehicles I've had. No way I would remember them all today. I wish I had taken more pictures but some I didn't own long enough to take one Never owned an Asian vehicle but had a few English beasts. Just one project now. That's enough.
  23. Is that good to -40 Bob? Ah, who cares:D sounds OK to me!
  24. I am just the opposite. No furun cars cars for me even for free. Many reasons. I know I'm in the minority judging by the cars on the road, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it
  25. Couple of pics here if you missed my post. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?p=6218#poststop
