  2. Thanks for all the comments, sold a '28 Ford Sport Coupe for $400.00 (paid $50.00) to buy the '40 as I wanted a modern car. Don, I think you're just jealous!!!
  3. January 1972, 2nd owner....38,000 miles Today, priceless....lots of smiles and miles 43 years later.
  4. I believe Plymouth 1937 thru 1941, Dodge 1937 thru 1940, and Chrysler 1937 thru 1939 all used the same MC, mopar #858889. Mopar MC service package part #800002 (with piston) and #947598 (w/o piston) for 1937 thru 1941 Plymouth,
  5. Found some photos of the '51 Belvedere that was rear ended in 1971. What a waste!!
  6. Welcome, Nice Belvedere !! My older brother and I shared a '51 Belvedere in the late '60's, was granddads car that was given to us. Was rear ended in '71 at one of the two stoplights on I- 90 (North Bend, Wa.), My dad continued to drive it to work for several years and sold it. Was a nice orginal 70,000 mile car. You're not far from me, I'm in Auburn.
  7. I converted my 53 pilot house standard cab to a vent window in the '80's. I gutted the doors from a deluxe cab and put the parts into my standard cab doors with no modifications, so I guess you could go the other way with the right parts.
  8. First you encourage people to think out of the box, then vote for people to conform???
  9. That's also how my '38 and '40 are set up, my '36 has a column mounted non cancelling lever. I prefer the 3 way toggle switch.
  10. From a few years ago, my '38 RC.
  11. From a 1979 issue of skinned knuckles

  12. Caught a neighbors cat soaking up some sun on my P10. 20 degrees here in the pacific northwest this morning.
  13. I was wrong, my '38 RC ammeter also has 3 posts. I used the fused post to run power to a fuse block from which I run headlights/taillights, dash lights, wipers, heater, and radio from. Also changed over to 12 volt. My shop manual indicates that one unfused post is connected to the power stud on the starter, the other unfused pole is connected to the generator and relay, and the fused post powers the headlight/taillight switch, the horn, and the instrument panel light switch. The manual doesn't indicate what gauge wire was used on any of those circuits.
  14. The ammeter on my '38 RC has 2 posts on the back. Doesn't seem right that your third post would be wired to the voltage regulator, seems like it would be an accessory power outlet as mentioned before. I'll look to see if I have a wiring schematic.
  15. Chrysler also used the same tail light and bezel combination on the airstreams.
  16. John, no rumble seat. It's a series C6 2 passenger Airstream business coupe. My info shows a production run of 1,975. I would think that there's not many left. It appeared to be an older amateur restoration that had been recently cleaned up, though the owner didn't seem to know much about it other than the car having a latter model L head and OD.
  17. Saw this '35 Chrysler at the Monroe swap meet a couple weekends ago, owner was asking 18k. Had later model Lhead and OD, but owner didn't know any details on the drive train
  18. Several years ago I used my '38 RC as my daily work commute vechicle, 125 miles a week, mostly on I-5 between Auburn Wa. to Tacoma Wa. Running a '57 Plymouth 230, stock 3 speed and a 3:78(I think) rear, anything above 55mph was a struggle due to engine rpm's and stock suspension. That stretch of I-5 also has a pretty rough surface due to heavy semi traffic. I just always drove at the speed I felt most comfortable with, usually 50 to 53 mph.
  19. Gene, Kingston requires a long drive around the southern end Puget Sound, via the Tacoma area, or a ride on the Washington State Ferry System from the north side of Seattle across Puget Sound. Hope the airflow meets your expectations.
  20. A more specific location would have been helpful. I'm 23 miles south from mid seattle, that can be up to 1 1/2hrs on any given day.
  21. Nice truck, the anticipation of the first drive after all the repairs are completed always kept me in the shop late into the night, despite the dismay of my girlfriend. She's gone, but I still have my mopars. I look at it as a win / win situation!!
  22. Welcome, nice '39. NOS ignition, door, and trunk locks, with keys come up on ebay all the time. Some are pretty expensive, but others, are very reasonable. I had a door key made for my 1964 Santa Fe travel trailer for $25.00, just took the lock to him. Took him longer to find a key blank than to make the key.
  23. My info says 177 for series C18. Bet they only gave the guy a couple hundred bucks as a trade in.
  24. That's also what the Standard Catalog Of Chrysler 1924 to 1990 indicates for the model D8 series R/S coupe. I didn't know if this is a D8 or a series D10. My info has no production #'s for the D10 series. I also think it's a worthwhile restoration project that hopefully someone will undertake!!!
