  1. The Newport wiper motor would be a new 12 volt motor. I think I’ll keep looking for an old 6 volt mopar motor. Step up converters may be ok for a radio but when it’s raining or snowing, I don’t want to count on one for my wipers.
  2. Thanks dgrinan. I messaged Newport once and never received a response. I think that even if that unit is rated 10 amps, it might not last long at a constant draw. And a motor that is moving a couple of wipers across a windshield is probably going to be pulling more than a few amps.
  3. Does anyone have a recommendation for a 6 volt to 12 volt step up converter? I’m looking into getting a Newport 12 volt windshield wiper motor for my 49 B1. I have looked on the internet and I’m seeing some but I would like to hear from someone that has experience with them. Thanks
  4. You really have to look for that truck.😊
  5. Funny how those things to you in the middle of the night. The mind never stops.
  6. My motor been sitting on a workbench for the last month or two. I can get to do the 2 speeds but it won’t park. I’m working on other things now and having a working wiper is a big priority. If it not original to the B-1 then I don’t where it came from.
  7. JB, I would like to check out your article. Here are some pictures of the wiper. It’s an original from ‘49.
  8. I have the electric wiper motor out off my ‘49 B-1-B, had the armature rewound, and I’m getting it back together. I wired power up to it to test it out and I noticed that on low speed the motor turns one way then on high speed, it turns the opposite way. So my question is, is that normal? I’m guessing it wouldn’t affect the way the wipers work but if I’m got something wrong, I would like to know. Anyone have an idea on this? Thanks
  9. That’s a good question. I was wondering that myself.
  10. I saw a ad on Facebook market place for a 52 dodge pickup and saw this. Maybe your truck had something similar?
  11. Thank you Veemoney, your experience makes me feel better. That’s kinda what I was thinking I would do. And it makes sense to get an appraisal before you put a lot of money in the vehicle cause the most value the higher the bond.
  12. I’m not really thinking about selling the truck, I have had it for years. But I took it apart many years ago and I kind of feel that I need to get it back to together. If I do get it going, I would probably just give to a nephew in the end. But I like to pursue a title at the same time. I don’t have any bill of sale or anything like that. My older brother told me that Dad got it from the landlord of the farm in Princeton and it’s been here every since. According to the state’s web site, I need an appraisal then pay 1 1/2 time bond to get a title. I guess that’s the real problem. Where do you get a appraisal on a pile of old truck parts. It sounds like the bond comes back to me in 3 years. So I won’t be out the money.
  13. Mr JBNeal, I’m think I will have to do a bonded title for the ‘49 Dodge B1B of my father. The state of Illinois will want 1 1/2 times the value of the truck to issue a title and I’m wondering how to set a price on a old truck that is completely torn apart and hasn’t been titled in 58 years. Any suggestions?
