OK gentlemen want to ask for some more advice please so I on the verge of getting these brakes all back together I bought new seals for the plates on the rear ends brakes but read that might as well check and change out the bearings as well so question is this bearing circled how does it come out is hard or fairly easy there is alot of play in the bearing so was thinking of putting news ones in since I'm at this point or can I get away with it by just repacking with bearing grease also this shim that came out looks like someone might have made it and it shows where it's been rubbing on something as well as with the blue heat marks so does anyone one know what the exact size in thickness it needs or they need to be I have extras from a rearend I bought same year make and model also circled in red in pictures please any help would be greatly appreciated thank you also I apologize upfront for my not so correct punctuation in my posts i.e. !,?,. Etc. Lol -

Hello I am back with another question for some help so on my rear drums of the 53 one side has arrows that look like they are engraved the other side don't have any so I am asking are the anchor bolts from the front are designed like the rear ones as far as the arrow and lobe position like picture added for reference and are arrows supposed to face each other when staring from scratch putting everything back together and doing the adjustments please and thank you -

OK so I'm sorta confused on this what I have been told and shown i believe is to bring the cams all the way in first then take them out until the start to rub drum and do the anchors to set the heels. Then told to do it this way so there actually is no adjuster for the Toes is that correct but trust me I appreciate all of you for the valuable information it's just that can't figure which method to use also how can I find out if my pads are doing this with the drum on please -

Thanl you Rich but I don't see how I can get a feeler gauge in there to check for the right adjustment which would be .006 like it says in picture added and I am using the correct gauge correct as well with picture and the only possible way I see and that is not even letting me is to have the drum half on as like in picture sorry I don't understand but would greatly appreciate any help and advice I can get please -

OK gentlemen I'm jumping in this on as I also am having trouble with my 53 dodge meadowbrook brakes long story short guy was supposed to fix my brakes but flaked on me I never watched how he took apart so I am in same situation as to trying to put everything back together so dodgeb4ya on your pictures that you posted can you be more specific and maybe show better pictures of where you made those slots to put the feeler gauge please so I've also heard that if the plates and spring that hold the shoes have to be turned a certain way as and also the anchor bolts with the arrows have to be facing a certain way well so I went to have my drums cleaned and surfaced and the tech told me one of them is badly warp and bent any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated thank you -
Thank you Loren but I am a little confused everyone is saying that the 3.9 I have in my 53 daily driver that has a flat 6 vs the 54 I bought for parts which the emblem on the hood looks like it says v8 so that would mean more power on freeway but comments are saying that the 4.0 would be slower on highways vs my flat 6 with the 3.9?
-
Los Control thank you for the info I should be more specific the 53 that I want to change the rear end only has the flat 6 in it and also the leaf springs are messed up as well as leaking oil and I'm getting ready to get rid of the 54 I bought for parts and just want to see if the rearend would be good to save for later issues I come across
-
Moparfun I was asking if the 4.1 off of the 54 will work on my 53 that has a 3.9 in it. Booger I have no clue as to do that measurement you are saying. Sniper the speedometer pinion gear has me stumped as well so friends I'm not that mechanical just trying to learn as I go
-
OK so I got the ratio from both rearends so the 3.9 is on my 53 and the 4.1 is on the 54 so next question would be could I still use the 4.1 ad a swap and if someone could explain to me the pros and cons I guess you would say on this issue thank you
-
Thank you Loren for the information going to try and find them stamps on both rearends today
-
Thank you moparfun and the carrier you are referring to where the stamp is at is this part here in the picture circled correct?
-
OK fellas need some advise from you I want to know if I could use the rearend out of the 54 dodge meadowbrook I bought that had a v8 motor in it to swap out with the rearend I have in my 53 meadowbrook as far as the ratios and other valuable info would be greatly appreciated thanks also if someone can give me the dimensions for the stock radiator for the 53 please the aftermarket one someone put in they cut up alot of the mounting frame ro make it fit thanks alot
-
Sniper thank you but just curious as if that book would have my car in there it being a '53 D-46 I see on the first page that they start with a D- 50 and also do you know if it's a reprint edition cause the one I bought you can barely see the pictures in it just don't want to spend more money but if lts a good one just might have to get it thank you I appreciate it
-
Farmerjon thank you I mean the ones in there look pretty good and I don't want to mess them up by trying to press them out maybe if I clean the pedals up pretty good and re grease the zert I could get away with out getting new ones and as for the shaft yes pretty pitted and took me a while to get it out but definitely will check out those places
-
OK once again need some help for my 53 dodge meadowbrook here this time I'm looking to see if anyone can point me in the right direction to buy this shaft arm that holds the brake pedal and clutch pedal that goes thru one end of the master cylinder as well as where can or if I can even buy them the inside where the shaft rides on the pedals looks like they are some sort of how can I explain it to me they look like the inside of a u joint end cap hopefully you can see in the pictures I added please any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
