  3. nice:D i have a 50s TV cabinet with huge speakers in it... i shall give it a try next week. yeehaw. those old radios haven't got any FM, do they? do you have these small radio emitters for mp3 players in AM frequency over there? i don't get any, plus they're illegal here anyway, i think... then i could listen to my usual dose of hank williams or jimmy rodgers while riding the 40:cool:

  5. yes, it's great! i always use it to clean and maintain old bicycles. when you get a new restoration object which looks pretty rotten and clean it up with WD40, a little polish and very smooth steel wool (is it called like that in english...?), you can achieve great results!
  6. didn't know the right words in english:rolleyes: couldn't even write "glass" correctly. hehe. i meant that flexible, easy-to-cut stuff rodders often use for heavily chopped rides. i like real glass more, but sometimes it's either impossible or too expensive. i was just curious what had to be done here, now i know. nice car!

  9. hi all, does anyone have a good photo of a '41 dash, especially instruments and speedo? there's a guy here who has a '41 speedo for sale, and i wonder if it fits in my P-10... thanks! fred
  10. ok, that might work... i'm going to try it as soon as i get back there. no p-10 owners here knowing wich way around the disc belongs? IF the speedo is broken, does anyone here happen to have one in the back of a dusty old box with the remains of a parts car in it...?
  11. ok, it has been a while since i started this thread, but now i finally got were i wanted to be... almost, that is. i ripped everything out of the car, to avoid standing on my head and all the other things you told me about. now, i have 3 questions: 1. how do i remove the wire from the temp gauge? this one: i pulled quite hard and tried to unscrew it and everything, but it won't come off and i don't want to break anything... 2. i disassembled the speedo like you told me before (had to break my fingers first, because the instruments wouldn't come out there because of the temp wire) and took it out of its housing. sadly, i cannot replace the glas because the numbers and everything are screenprinted directly onto it... so what, might even look nice. how do i get the little ring back onto the plastic disc, and wich way around does it belong? the plastic lense on the plastic nose or the other way 'round? 3. how can i test the speedo, when i have it in pieces like now? i have a bad feeling that it might not work, because the little nose was up on the right, and not down on the left like i thing it would make sense... i moved it there manually, but i dont know if it works. the wiring came in nice and smooth so far, but it must be a station wagon harness. the wiring for the fuel gauge and the tail lights is lead down under the car, and not trough the window column and roof. i'll make it fit, anyway. and now for some answers!

  13. humor? good idea! i'll buy a decent rope tomorrow and go ask him to play the tow truck:D no, i haven't yet, and i didn't even try. got my carb back from the cleaning and build it up tomorrow. when she runs again i'll put a beer case in for a seat and drive some circles in the yard, trying to get the drums of that way. we'll see... i'll tell you when i beat them. tranny would be great though, the guy's desperate! we had someone from the US selling a motor and tranny, but he suddenly decided not to ship them, we told him he wouldn't have to get them over here and gave him the raleigh-adress, but he thinks we're too fishy, so he canceled the deal:(
  14. most guys over here use their old starters after the swap, they seem sturdy enough to take the 12V. sure they might wear out faster, but how long will that take? i'd keep it for start and fix the rest first. ... and welcome here, it's just the right place for 40-rookies like us:)

  16. hey, i know it's not a plymouth thing, but i thought if anyone would know, then most likely one of you: a friend of mine here in berlin has trouble with the tranny of his '55 series62 caddillac transmission, when it is warm the gears will pop out from time to time. he is now looking for a spare one to get an overhaul over there on your side of the ocean and then being shipped here afterwards. we do have an adress and a shop specialized in fixing these trannys in raleigh, north virginia (i guess, or was it south:) ), so anyone who has one wouldn't have too much trouble with the shipping and all. it would be so great if anyone here could help! thanks! frederic

  18. here we go. the puller on the hub before the battle: and the ones that went first: the one on the right was a cone ones with even sides and a sharp point... those big pullers you mean are hard to get over here, never seen one on the bay so far. shipping might be a bit expensive from the states.
  19. didn't have the guts yet. the car is parked real close to the wall at the moment, when i'm done on this side i'll turn it around and go for the right one. might have a puller by then that can do the job... who knows? i'll ad some pics of the action later.
  20. good morning everyone, i'd like to bring good news, but unfortunately i can't. it was an epic battle, but i had to retreat finally and accept the supremacy of THE DRUM. though i used a torch and bought a huge hammer, it didn't move. i completely wrecked the drum puller and broke the hammer in 2 pieces. i brought it back to the shop and yelled at the guys, got my money back and yelled some more. felt better afterwards. hail to the drum. master of stolidity. i won't touch it for a long while, then, one day, get a bigger puller and an even bigger hammer. and when it least expects it.... i have enough work on the car at different places, so i just let it rest and do some other stuff. started repairing the upholstery, worked out great. sat in the sun and drank beer. decided to have a great day. thanks again for all your tips, guys!

  22. thanks for all the advice, folks! the puller looks nearly the same than mine, i can turn the drum with my bare single hand, and i checked the adjustement screws, so thats as easy as it gets... was back there yesterdayday night, slapped it like you said... still nothing. gonna buy a propane torch and a BIGGER HAMMER today. where exactly do you hit the puller? right on top of the nut, where i put the tube on for turning the puller shaft? so, lets say, the strike goes 90° right on top of the center axle shaft? i hate this construction...
