I am quite sure that it is leaking where I think it's leaking. When I had it parked at an incline the rear driver side area of the tank was wet and it looked like it went up to the filler hose connection. Thanks for your input!
-
Mine is a late '49 model and has the ribbed bumpers. The filler neck does come through the fender and has a rubber grommet. I will take your suggestions into consideration and appreciate your help! I was mainly asking so that I don't miss something.

After I filled that gas tank on my '49 for the first time this spring I noticed a slow leak that I think is due to the tank being so full and sitting on an incline it is leaking through the rubber that connects the fill neck to the tank. I want to remove the tank to replace this rubber hose, but am wondering the specific steps required and it is a bit cramped underneath. When I put the car in the garage on a level surface the leak stopped. Any tips are appreciated!

I love the updates! My cars are locked in the barn by snow and ice for who knows how long. This winter is unrelenting...

That sure sounds like fun! His car with the carrier on top looks like a great adventure!

Glad to see you back on here and that things are well with your family now. I, too, was wondering how things were going!

Looking forward to this thread! I haven't been on the forum for most of the winter so it's fun to come on here and see everyone's updates and questions.

I love seeing you enjoy your Meadowbrook with your family!

Keith, I too really enjoy your videos and how they are conversational. You are helping all of us learn right along with you. This car is just an incredible find! -
I had a guy come over to me at the gas station this morning and he asked what year my car was and I said a ‘49. “That’s the first car I ever drove!” He took a few photos and was on his way again. He had followed me into town for a couple of miles and I had even casually waved to him in his (newer) convertible as I drove by. Fun to have these interactions! Hopefully more in the months to come. I don’t know if it’s my age (32) or what, but not that many people ask me about the car so far ?♂️

I bought my '49 Club Coupe in the summer of 2019 and I thoroughly enjoy having it. I wasn't looking for one, but happened upon it on Facebook marketplace. When I went to see it I knew I had to buy it since it was beautiful and original and smelled like the old '62 Belvedere I used to play in as a kid. The owner was assured that I was not buying it to resell, but to keep, maintain, and enjoy it. I will periodically text the former owner to let him know of any updates or special moments I've had with the car. I hope to have many more adventures with it!

I definitely agree with these sentiments, Keith. If my '49 Plymouth was as nice as it is new (fresh looking paint and a very nice interior) I would still enjoy it. You've already put a lot of work into your '38 and it looks great and I love the way you enjoy it and share your progress. My '52 Mercury is a lot more original and untouched other than rebuilding the engine. The inside has mouse holes in the headliner and the seats would benefit from being redone. The trunk has some holes in it and the lid doesn't shut properly (still haven't figured that out...). I feel more comfortable driving that car around on gravel roads, I guess.

That is really strange! Must have either been backed into with something at that height or backed into something that made the scratches/gouges. My grandpa backed into my 2000 Chevy Malibu with his combine about 10 years ago and it was just the right height that the fins on the back of the combine chopped the antenna off clean and made some light scratches in the trunk lid. Replaced the antenna, but never did fix the scratches. The car still runs fine, but has definitely collected more rust since that incident!

I agree with Keith! I love they way you share the car, enjoy it immensely and share the story with everyone!
