  1. If you look in the instructions manual they came with alot pf tools, no pictures though.
  2. I got nosy in the middle picture and saw the original tire bar. Ive got mine too, but i would like to see what you have of the original tool kit to compare to what i have

  4. Its a samba, and i will admit that i cheated and used Google lense

  6. Last night I removed some lights and chrome trim to send out and started sanding the body to see what i have to work with.
  7. Then i cleaned and painted the headlight cross bar and mounted it
  8. I drilled it put a bolt in it with a jam nut then welded the face. Ground it smooth and painted it.
  9. At the nationals i meet a vender who waterjet car logos but he didn't have the DeSoto. We meet up at another show and bought one after he made one.
  10. An issue i have had at car shows is every car prior to 36 must be a ford model a or t. If you look in the picture by the radiator cap the badge says DeSoto in it real light and hard to see. I came up with a fix for this issue.
  11. So as you may know in order to remove the fuel tank i had to remove some panels. Of course i couldn't put them back on like they were. Time to spot blast and sand.
  12. I then stripped the paint and covered with self etching primer. A coat of undercoating and then paint.
  13. This all started with a fuel tank. I drained the summer fuel out of the tank and the color was a rusty color. I decided to remove the fuel tank and clean it out. A week of soaking in vinegar while i ordered the por 15 fuel tank liner. Then i put a chain in the tank and shook it alot. Dump the vinegar and chain out. Rinse out with paint thinner 4 times and what a nasty color came out. I then used some muriatic acid for a last cleaning. Dump acid and rinse with paint thinner. Pour in the por 15 and swish it around let drain and dry. One week later did the por 15 once again and let dry.
  14. As some of you may remember last year i pulled off an impressive amount of work on my car to make the nationals. Im at it again. I have started some body work on the car. I have spring work to do. I will once again keep a running post on progress since there is little info on these cars here.
  15. Are you a member for the Facebook national DeSoto club. Pn the Facebook page there is a info section that has that instructions manual downloaded. You can print it off so you dont ruin your original. That's what I did.
  16. My latest acquisition is a sun machine, cant wait to use it.
  17. Really check the condition and pics on the ebay unit. When i got my car i also had the jb weld liquid Teflon repair to the top. Its a common issue, either owners tighten it up to stop a leak and the bevel seal surface açts like a wedge to split it apart or owners dont use two wrenches to remove the line and the twisting motion breaks it. The guy i mentioned sells all of the rebuild parts at a good price and i believe he can get repop top covers also. His restoration service is top notch but not cheap.
