Just picked this one up on Saturday, saved it from the shredder. 230 is seized and missing the head, and front axle has ton of kingpin slop. Hoping to do a quick Volare clip install and 318 for motovation. Wondering what donor would make a good fit for a rear end. Have heard of using C-body Chrysler, but not sure and can't find track widths. Any suggestions are welcome.

Scott keep the group informed of your rear axle research. I've got access to a 66 plymouth fury(Cbody) rear axle that if possible I'd like to stick under a 39-47 1/2ton.

Scott,

I'm going to use a F**d 9" rear end from a late 70's LTD II that has the same size axle housing and only measures about 1/2" different in width (inside to inside on the backplates) as the old rear end in my '52 3/4 ton(B3C). I had to have a new ring and pinion put in because the old one was severely pitted with rust right on the gear teeth. It was a salvage yard rescue that I picked up for $100. Even with the new gear and all new bearings and seals I still have less than $300 in it. The great thing about 9"ers is they are very strong, easy to work on and easy to find parts for. This is just one of several rear ends that would work.

The fact that the measurements were so close was what helped me make up my mind about using the F**d rear end in a Mopar.
