RobertKB Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Had one of those days with an old car that makes everything we do with them worthwhile. Went to an antique tractor and threshing show about 70 miles from where I live. Weather for the day was 10 out of 10. Heard lots of great old machinery running, had my car in the "Parade of Power", watched a 1917 Case 65 HP steam tractor belted up to a sawmill which was cutting some pretty big logs. Went back to the car later in the day, lifted the trunk lid and sat with a buddy of mine and had a cool one. Doesn't get much better than that! I had tuned the car up during the winter and she just ran beautifully and I figure I got close to 20 miles per gallon. I debated for a while about going again tomorrow but decided against it as you just can't repeat these unplanned for days. I always enjoy life but today was one of those days when you appreciate being alive even more! Quote
NatesSedan Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Sounds perfect. The car looks great and that second pic is definately a keeper! Quote
Powerhouse Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 LOVE it! Those are the kind of days I live for...but...20 mph...or 20 mpg...hehehe Quote
RobertKB Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Powerhouse, thanks for picking that up. I went back and edited it. 20 MPG certainly sounds better that 20 MPH. Quote
Normspeed Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Robert, it just don't get better'n that! Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Great looking D25 coupe! - Thanks for sharing nice pictures and a great day out. The D25 does combine the best design features of P15 and D24, indeed. I've been driving my D24 some hundreds of miles this summer, but haven't attended any special event so far... Hope the sun shines for us here in Finland some weeks still... Quote
PatS.... Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Love the pics, Robert. I see by the flags on top of the elevator that the Lethbridge area winds are keeping true to form. My 49 Chrysler spent 30+ yrs there on the south side of a barn...baking As for the old tractors and such, the Irricana Pioneer Acres show is on this coming weekend again and I'll be there with bells on. They put on a great show...and everything runs!!!. http://www.pioneeracres.ab.ca/annualshow.aspx Quote
RobertKB Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Pat, this show was in Pincher Creek and yes the wind was blowing but not howling like it sometimes can. I have often meant to get to Irricana but never have but hope to one day. Pincher Creek has their show first, then Irricanca, and finally there is another great show in Picture Butte which I never miss as I know a lot of people in that club. The shows are on three consecutive weekends which makes it hard to get to all them. Maybe next year I will get up to Irricana and we can finally meet each other! If your car sat for 30+ years on the south side of a barn it sure would have baked and baked and baked. In the winter it would have collected snow blowing over the barn from the north. Quote
