BobT-47P15 Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 This fellow has an ad on ebay, but evidently is a full time supplier of such parts. Link to the ad. In Minneapolis and Duluth. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Complete-metal-brake-line-kit-for-Mopar-1930-to-1976_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34199QQhashZitem230066052032QQihZ013QQitemZ230066052032QQrdZ1 Quote
Young Ed Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Not sure you are getting much for your money there. You still have to bend them yourself. He says easy to bend by hand but never mentions what material the lines are made of. I think I'll stick to the bulk lines from the store. Quote
Guest dave_in_carlsbad Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I used Classic Tube on a recent restroration for SS lines. Not inexpensive, but well made and they fit. http://www.classictube.com/index.asp Quote
grey beard Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Around these parts (PA) a 25-foot roll of quarter inch steel brake tubing costs a little less than $25. Once the old lines are remved for patterns, all the new tubing can be cut to length and flared in less than two hours - even if this is your first time at double flaring. Most of the bends are easy hand-formed curves. If you find your application requires a tight ninety bend and you have no tubing bender, just clamp two same size deep wall sockets in your bench vise and wrap the tubing around one while the other keeps the end from moving - works pretty nice and won't kink. I have also bent gentle curves in brake line using a rattle can for a mandrel. If cost is an objective, try to save your old tubing nut nds, for they are quite expensive to replace. LOL:) Quote
Young Ed Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Another thing is the napa here now carries plastic coated lines. They aren't that much more then the plain steel ones and are supposed to be kink proof. I used them on my dakota and would certainly use them again. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Discussions like this is why I sometimes toss out an ad like that. It sounds good at first, but obviously several here don't think it's such a good deal. Quote
