Just take a license plate frame (new or used) and get one of

those plastic plates that car dealers attach to vehicles on their lot.

I painted the frame same color as the dash.

Paint the plate to match your car.

Then use the smooth back side to attach lettering for

your name, make of car, or whatever you want.

Will make up the items to go on it soon. In addition to our

name, I will use a "Plymouth Builds Great Cars" flag on one

end, and a Plymouth crest on the other. Will print them on

the computer, cut them out, and attach with a glue stick.

Cheap and easy.

1. Hope the paint does not come of and ruin the printer

2. Make sure your printer can:

a. Handle the thickness of the plate

b. Be adjusted to the proper thickness setting

3. If the paint surface is too smooth, the ink wil run/smear

4. If the print does take, it will likely have a long curing time to prevent smearing after printed.

Best of luck!

David.......guess I should be more specific......don't believe I will be

running the plate thru the printer. Just cutting and pasting the

printed items onto the plate with my trusty Elmer's Glue Stick.

Good points to consider, though.

What about spraying it with some clear coat after you glue on your printed items?

Granted, the glue on paper deal is not real durable. I've done that with

several other things along the way -- they hold up for a while if they

don't get wet. Moisture seems to be their worst enemy.

I even made all the decals on the engine as copies and glued them on

so I can keep the original water-slide decals to re-copy. My next

experiment, when current decals need replacement, is that I have

now made prints on photo paper. That should be a little tougher,

maybe a tad more durable. Will find out eventually. Just something

else to play with. The air cleaner decal looks pretty good......
