JIPJOBXX Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Well the old Dodge made it successfully thought the parade but just about at the end it started to foul out. The parade route was probably a mile and haft and the speed was very very very slow! I was leaking a little water but I think that's because of the radiator cap is missing part of it insides seal. Well anyway as soon as I completed the circuit I floored it and blew out all the excess carbon. I really don't think these old cars are made to just go at ideal speed without having this carbon build up. Anyway the car is home and it was success! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/1942dodge/DSC02614.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/1942dodge/DSC02615.jpg Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Nice photo Jon. I hope you got to go ahead of the horses. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 I forgot to mention it but it was probably 80 to 85 degrees outside during my heat run. The engine was running at 160 degrees and so that wasn't so bad. Has anyone replaced the sealing material in there radiator cap? I kind of think it was leaking around this area and that will be my next big job to make some-type of gasket but out of what? any ideas? And no the horses were behind me-thanks god. These old mopars really do get warm inside as there is not to much insulation between the fire wall and the interior of the car. Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Jon, If you still have the original radiator in your 42 it should look like my 42 Coupe radiator. They were non pressurized systems. The water was probably coming out of your overflow tube at the top of the radiator. In my photo it's the little round thing on top of the tank with the tube coming out of it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Jon....you shoulda been cool, seeing as how you now have a swamp cooler in the rear window. Guess I hadn't seen that before. Quote
