Okay Guys, here the skinny on the 49 Plymouth.

It DOES have a correct Title.

I will add a link to photo's of the car at the end of this.

The car overall is in decent shape. It is a three speed with no overdrive, that I could tell. Not rotted completely away. Would make a good starter car or maybe a good parts car. Most everything is there with the exceptions listed.

No Grill

No Bumpers

Missing some body trim, but I may have some of it myself.

No Radiator, but I may have one. Not real sure on that.

Not sure about the inner fenders, but I think they are gone.

Although in the photo's you will see items missing, like the rear fender and tail light, headlights, they are inside the car. The car is also loaded with some junk, which will get removed. The seats are there and shoved in the back seat.

Now for the bad stuff.

It does have some rust, (I mean it is in Northern Indiana) but the rust is pretty minimal, it appears. Most of it is in the typical places, at the floor by the back seat corners, which appears to be minimal. In the corners of the trunk, which you can see in the photo's. The fender, doors, and floor in general are in good condition. All glass in there in good. I think one was a little smokey at one corner. All handles were there as far as I can remember as well as the door panels.

Now for the engine. I was told that it ran and it did. Everything in on the engine, BUT the Yo-Yo that owned the car, that had it running, threw a rod out the drivers side of the block. Probably didn't bother to check the oil. I was disappointed in that, but overall the car would make the save it list, in my opinion.

The price I'm working on, as he says if it don't sell, it will get scraped. So if anyone wants or needs this car or the parts, it won't last long. I'm still thinking on buying it, but if no interest is shown, I may pass on it. PLEASE let me know if your interested. Here is the photo link.

Interesting-shows the short 3spd that I thought was only in the short WB cars.

"as he says if it don't sell, it will get scraped."

When a seller says this my eyes glaze over and I walk away. I take it as a threat and I don't deal with people like that. If it's gonna go for scrap. set the price at a little above scrap value and get the car into the hands of someone who will either save the car or save the parts.

I have walked away from or not responded to many sellers and ads with this threat.

This is a great car to save from the crusher. Joe Flanagan and others started with worse.

Hopefully it goes to a good home.

I'd be interested in a 3:73, if it has one. I'm sure other parts would move as well if the price is right. Wayne P.

Looks like the rockers probably need repair or replacing too. Outside body looks decent though. Too bad its a 4 door. At least if it was a 2 door someone might take it on as a good street rod project. Most street rodders want the 2 door cars though. Otherwise, you'd have to find someone really into doing a lot of work and putting out lots of money for restoring a 4 door to original. Not many of the people who do that want to start out with a car like that.

I do agree with Pat though. If he really has to get rid of it and will scrap it, he should give it to someone for the scrap price, if he gets no takers on the $500.

Its sort of like the guy who called me from out east about a month or so ago. He wasn't into collecting cars. However, he found a Fulton visor bracket in his wooded property. Was all bent out of shape but he went on the internet and looked up Fulton Sunvisor and found my web page with the instructions. He then called me long distance and told me what he had and didn't want any money for it. I told him I wasn't sure if it was worth mailing since it was so bent. However, he said he'd mail it to me anyway to see if it could be repaired so someone could use it. Even though I offered to pay him the mailing cost, he didn't want it. A few weeks later I got it via FedEx. As it turns out I was able to repair it. So.........now someone can at least use the thing.

By the way, as mentioned this guy didn't want any money for the bracket. However, I think he should be rewarded someway. If you are in need of Industrial Diamonds where you work, you might want to throw the business his way. http://www.apollodiamond.com/ Prior to that phone call I never heard of him, or the company.
