I finally tracked down a set of 15 inch rims. A guy right down the road with an old junk yard has hundreds of them.

I refuse to pay the price they want for radial wide whites, no tire is worth almost $200. I have checked with every local tire store for something even a little wider than a normal wide white and they don't have a thing. Someone must make something. Please help me, I hate the look of the skinny whitewalls and I hate blackwalls. I need some wide white radials on my car.

blueskies got some tires that are narrow whites, but a little wider white

stripe than the average. Don't know what brand his tires are. Maybe

he can post a pic and let you know.

At one time Firestone made a little wider narrow white tire in a radial. They

were priced about average for a tire of its type. Might check a Firestone

store.

There is also a process (a machine) for grinding the black part off on a narrow white to make the

stripe wider. Not sure how many places still do that.

...or you can do it yourself

I had the name of the ones from blueskies but I can't find them. I'm leaning towards the tire paint. I just don't see how that can work very well.

The grinding thing works because there is more white below the black,

it just doesn't show except for the part they want to show. Have you

ever noticed the right front tire on the car of someone who drags the

curb a lot.....there will be a stripe of white where the black is scraped off

over time.

Some guys on the HAMB have talked about a whitewall paint that

seems to do a nice job......can't recall the name of it. Might do a

search there.

Found this picture of Pete's car in my photo collection.

I've also heard of guys painting with Krylon Fusion paint. Its for plastic lawn furniture so its pretty flexible.

I tried it on a junk tire at work with no prep. When it dried I could fold the sidewall over and it didn't crack but don't know how much time before it would.

But think of it this way, its easy to repair. Just another option.
