Wallyworld Oil OT ????

Hi all, I am curently thinking of trying Wallyworld brand straight 40 Diesel motor oil in my flathead. Is this a dumb move/idea, I have a miles on this engine, it runs and performs well, except I have an oil leak right now, will fix soon, at least replace pan and valve cover gaskets.

I have added some of this oil into my engine already, as a top up for my Rotella T 15 W 40, figured I might use the Wallyworld oil, until I can resolve my oil leaks..............Fred

Just got off the phone with Wallyworld, the employee told me the Tech 2000 oil is made in Canada by a company called Safety Clean, don't know if it is owned by a big company such as Shell or not.

He stated they sell a lot of the Diesel oil, but in his opinion, is that it is not the same quailty as as a " Rotella T oil" or a "Castrol GTX 20 W 50 oil", seems like you still get what you pay for.

The API ratings are up there for Tech 2000 diese oil though.

I use walmart brand syntheic in every engine I have ever owned. From lawn mower engines to a drag engine. I have for years with no problems. There are only a few companies that make oil, then it gets bottled for retail. I'm not paying for a fancy bottle when it isn't necessary.

Thjis could be very true of the synthetic oil line, I have a buddy who is very fussy and he uses the wally world synthetic oils.

I just got off the phone with the safetykleen folks, they make the Wallyworld oil in the Breslau Oil refinery in Canada and in Chicago.

I tried to speak with a chmist from Breslau, but know one was avilable.

The safetykleen rep did tell me they make all the Chrsyler oil, used to make all the Ford Motocraft oil, some GM oils, and a whole $hitload of other oils including Wallworld oil.

I will try and find out more later, if I can get through to the Breslau refinery people..........Fred PS doing all this at the same time watching my 2 yo daughter and cleaning the house,heheheheh
