Ot - Cheap Car For Sale In San Diego

ANYONE know of any cheap cars in RELIABLE condition for sale in the San Diego area? I am unsure on shipping my daily driver or buying a car when I get there. I would prefer a small 4 cyl pre 90's car...I have a RELIANT LE now and LOVE it. I would like anything similar..."little old lady never used it" type of car. I don't care about looks...just want a reliable car...that I can work on...with NO COMPUTER CRAP!

Why not try Craigslist for the area in California you're moving to? Lots of low-buck stuff advertised there...some of them are even 'plausible'!

Also, California marches to its own tune as far as paperwork is concerned, so maybe a trip to the California DMV website would be a good idea so you'll know what you need.

When I moved from New York state to California I bought and brought with me a brand new leased 1993 furd pickup. I drove this truck to California on New York temporary tags. Once I got to California I could not register this truck as it did not meet the California emmisions standards. Even though I explained to the dealer prior to leasing the truck that I would be taking it to California. The dealer told me the truck was good to go in all 50 states and showed me the tag on the radiator indicating such. When I called the dealer to let him know I could not register the truck in California he did not remember me. Bottom line was I drove the truck for six months with no tags and did not get stopped by the fuzz. I then could register the truck as a used vehicle in California.
