BobT-47P15 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Would a 5 x 2 x 2 lowering block fit the rear spring on the P15? I know this has been discussed before but can not find the dimension needed. Thanks. Quote
1940Mopar Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 should work as long as the 5" dimension is overall length and not height. The biggest issue is to have them seat properly on the leaf spring so that U bolts line up in a parallel fashion. You want your U bolts to look like this || and not \ / Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 Im thinking the width of the block is an issue. The P5 springs are not as wide as some others. This block should be 2" wide by 2" tall by 5" long. Quote

Close to 15,000 miles and no problems to date. Quote
1940Mopar Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Don, Your's looks great because the bottom of the bolts ended up parallel even if the tops are not. The heating and bending should do the trick. However, I've seen some that installations where the owner did not take your approach and the results were not good. Quote

This block should be 2" wide by 2" tall by 5" long. You're right Bob, the Plymouth springs are narrower than the usual Ford and Chevy stuff. You either need narrower blocks if you can find them, or make some up out of steel tube with a rectangular cross section. I believe the P15 springs are 1 3/4" wide. I found my narrow blocks in a box of assorted lowering stuff at a swap meet, $10 for the whole box. They had the name "Lewis" cast into them. They were a little too tall for my application and a forum member cut them down for me on a CNC machine. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 1, 2008 Author Report Posted March 1, 2008 There was just a set of 2" blocks on ebay, but I let them slide by. Not sure if I need them really. Might if I ever get new rear springs. For the last several years have kept some weight just behind the rear seat in front of the differential hump in the trunk. Used to have a couple old 6 cyl engine heads there...now have a couple of 60 pound sand bags. Give the car a little heavier feel plus lowers the rear just a smidge. Quote
bob westphal Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 I bought my lowering blocks from Hot Rod & Custom Supply. The below site will take you there. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort Quote
1940Mopar Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 am I correct that the leaf springs are 2" wide. If so, that is a great link although not the correct address. Here it is. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?userwatch~dynamicSearchPage~cadefeex Quote
martybose Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 The rear springs on my P15 are 1-3/4" wide; a 2 inch block wouldn't work. My lowering blocks are 1-3/4" wide, and work fine. Marty Quote
1940Mopar Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 thanks.....the link above has both. I wanted to make sure before I ordered. Quote
