unclekacee
My 1946 Plymouth, starts right up every time..but after the car warms up and try to start again, theres nothing, no "click" no sound at all, when I use my trusty screwdriver to "jump" it, the engine cranks and starts. I've already replaced:confused: the coil. Could it be the coil wire? Or something else. Any help would be apreciated. Merry Christmas Uncle Kacee
greg g
splain "jump it with a screw driver". If you are talking about temporarily bridging the posts of the solenoid, then you probably have a bad solenoid that binds up whit high under hood heat. Or you have some high resistance in the starting circuit due to corrosion at the connections. You still runnig the starter buton on the dash? Especially if you can jump out the starter. Sometimes if you have a bad connection either ground or power when they are hot the components expand and then make poor connection. Once cool it works fine. Check your basic start ckt. Clean all connections and ensure that everything is grounded well. From your description I am assuming that when hot your car doesn’t crank nor does the starter solenoid trigger. Chet…
teardrop puller
If it works with the screwdriver, then it probably is not the solenoid. I would suspect that there is a wire that seperates when hot. Run a wire in to the car from the battery side to the small terminal with a temperory contact switch. if it starts, then you have a problem from the power to/from the starter button kai
