paulbone Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Yet another appeal for help from the Dodge wizards out there. Any tips for getting the old throw out bearin/clutch release bearing off its sleeve. I have a new bearing, but find the complete assembly for sale. The old bearing is on fast and I'm not sure how to get it off without damaging the sleeve. The car is a 47 D-24 with fluid drive and standard 3 speed. Thanks guys. Quote
James_Douglas Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 I had to use my press... James Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Like James said... you'll need to use a press. Once I rigged it up in a press, it came apart quite easy. Use the press to install the new one too. Hammer impacts could do damage to the bearing internals. Merle Quote
Normspeed Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 If you have a large vise and some large socket wrenches you might be able to set up a makeshift press. That's how I did my Plymouth throwout bearing. You might be able to make use of the old bearing as a tool when pressing the new one into place too. Quote
