jsd245 Posted May 23, 2023 Report Posted May 23, 2023 Anyone have an image of what these looked like in these trucks? I assume probably on the bigger ones? I found a distributor with a mechanical Tach output. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 26, 2023 Report Posted May 26, 2023 (edited) 25" Dodge truck cable Tach drive distributor used with Stewart Warner Tach. 30" Moly Block engines are different. Edited May 26, 2023 by Dodgeb4ya 2 Quote
jsd245 Posted June 12, 2023 Author Report Posted June 12, 2023 So this is what I came up with. I found a old Boat mechanical tachometer which I think matches the style of the original gauges really well. I've got my distributor with the tach drive just waiting on a cable. I'm pretty pleased with this solution. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 12, 2023 Report Posted June 12, 2023 Great job on look and installation job. Don't know about that brand name though!? Quote
jsd245 Posted June 12, 2023 Author Report Posted June 12, 2023 Hah ha yeah . I'm sure I could get a decal made to maybe match the stock Speedo and cover that- but I'm not building a show truck so I'll leave it as is. 1 Quote
jsd245 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Report Posted June 13, 2023 Got it fully installed and working. Looks like it's quite accurate. 60 mph is a little over 3000rpm which an online calculate tells me is correct for my rear end gearing and tire size. Waze agrees with the indicated speed on the speedometer. I like having a tach so I know my shift points. Also I was hitting 65mph on the highway, and clearly that's a bit much at about 3300 rpm. https://youtu.be/yL7I9Uq26rc 1 Quote
