martanke Posted September 7, 2022 Report Posted September 7, 2022 In my search for a good straight 8 323.5 cid block replacement I have found an industrial Chrysler IND 12. Anyone here who knows when these were manufactured? I believe there was a IND 9 eight cyl version as well and I think that one is earlier. I am looking for a 1946-50 model block. Quote
martanke Posted March 9, 2023 Author Report Posted March 9, 2023 So I found what I believe to be a good block, it's a 1950 IND-12A. If anyone knows where to find the maintenance manual for this engine, please let me know. Quote
keithb7 Posted March 9, 2023 Report Posted March 9, 2023 Try vintage power wagons. They have lots of manuals available. https://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/_files/ugd/a95fd2_a91e41eedc5f47e3be143ad1ec271ab0.pdf 1 Quote
martanke Posted March 9, 2023 Author Report Posted March 9, 2023 Thanks Keith, Already checked with them and they only have the 6 cyl version. Quote
Harvie Posted March 10, 2023 Report Posted March 10, 2023 I have a C39 with the straight 8. I have a rebuilt IND Engine in it now. On information plate on the engine it says it was manufactured in Windsor, Ontario. I will be very interested to discuss rebuild issues with you and the terrible time that I have had. If it were not for the help and guidance of an excellent member of this forum I don't know what I would have done. Quote
martanke Posted March 12, 2023 Author Report Posted March 12, 2023 Hi Harvie, Well I certainly hope it won't be an all that terrible experience, let's see... I will post on the rebuild as it comes along. Still waiting for the IND engine to arrive. Quote
Mike Petersen Posted March 13, 2023 Report Posted March 13, 2023 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/578584260975076/ This guy has a Chrysler flathead 8 engine & transmission for sale. Don’t know the seller in any way. Quote
