Numbers on 3 speed transmission

Hi all,

Just acquired this 3 speed with OD for my dodge meadowbrook brook. Theres a series of numbers stamped,  not cast, into the edge of the front plate (see picture). I'm wondering if that's a date code? Makes sense that the 53 would be a 1953...

OD= Overdrive Transmission
