Young Ed Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 So as you guys saw I got a parts car. Actually sharing it with Mike. Anyway I believe he has enough flatheads that I can play with the one in the parts car. So according to the guy we bought it from it had low compression when they took it apart and then they found all the rings were bad. I looked at a couple of the pistons and they are certainly stuck but the pistons dont appear to be broken. Of course they would require close inspection. Now the rest of the engine-he says they smeared grease on everything inside to protect it and then the head and pan were reinstalled. So the engine has been well sealed. So basically am I crazy for thinking this thing might run with new rings and rod bearings? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 If you can get it to turn, sounds like it'll run to me. How good remains to be seen. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 Ya that's a whole nother issue. How good are the rest of the bearings in this thing going to be. Bad cam bearings=bad oil pressure. Certainly something fun to play around with. And then if I do get it going I can build a ratrod 40 ply pickup Quote
