woodscavenger Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I must be living a good life. Here is an update on my progress. Front sheet metal all removed. Broke a few bolts but nothing significant. Sheet metal is in great shape. Limited rust and wrinkles. Radiator is removed. It had about 1 gallon of fairly clean fluid in it. Using a breaker bar the front pulley turned over quite easily. Pulled the heater core and fan motor. Motor spins with 12v power. Hooked up a battery and the starter spins along with the motor and distributor. Compression test was fairly good. The cylinders range from 95-110. They are fairly consistent but I am not sure if this is high enough. Next job is to rebuild the carb and fuel pump, get new plugs, rotor, wires, points and see if this baby will fire up. I am excited. I was originally going to strip out the engine and replace with a V8 but I now want to keep the 6 and go for it. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 95-110 should make for a decent runner. They may even come up a little once you get it running again and everything gets loosened and oily again. Quote
