Help with a wiggling P12 lower pulley

My understanding is that the older,wider belt is 5/8th width, the more modern, thinner belt is 1/2" and started to be used from the late 40's early 50's and was the same width as used up until the serpentine belt systems came into being.......pulley diameter is about this much(he holds his two hands together with index fingers and thumbs touching...lol)..yep, time for Mr Tape Measure.......and its tea time here in Oz.........lol............andyd

Yes and no

 

VPW is finding me a pulley that should work. Through general consensus we believe the pulley is safe in the meantime and was likely bent on an old engine rebuild. As long as belts aren't jumping, we are good. 

 

It's not as concerning as the harmonic balancer with rubber in it that can break off, I believe

 Mine was in the same condition as yours, to fix it I took a piece of chalk and with the motor running just kissed the forward edge of the pulley and shut off the motor, grabbed a block of wood and tapped the chalk mark, wiped it off and repeated the procedure until the pulley has a barely noticeable shimmy.

How were you able to maneuver into that small space?

I was replacing the engine and had the entire front group off the truck with the radiator supported by the hoses and wood blocking and the space where you access the hand crank was plenty big.
