Leo White Posted July 15, 2021 Report Posted July 15, 2021 (edited) Running into a problem and if you guys can help me out I really appreciate it, so on my 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook the cowl vent is stuck in the closed position the seal around it is falling apart and I am going to replace it but it won't open. The lever in the car to open it does not work, if I press it down nothing happens. I have the radio off and looking in and trier to push up on it with no luck. Edited July 15, 2021 by Leo White Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 15, 2021 Report Posted July 15, 2021 you need be careful and not rock this without first freeing the pivot points...you risk popping the spot welds if you do. These can be quite the bear to loosen up. I have had a couple that would not respond to penetrating oil and only with a couple applications of heat with the torch did I get a nice free easy moving lid at the pivots.....you can remove the screen by loosening the screws through the slot...DO NOT try to remove these screws as they are split and spread... Leo White Posted July 15, 2021 Author Report Posted July 15, 2021 Ok so I figured it out, someone disconnected the cowl vent arm and sealed the vent I got the vent open and see how they disconnected everything. Quote
Leo White Posted July 15, 2021 Author Report Posted July 15, 2021 I do have a question on replacing the cowl gasket, is there a sealant that I need to but down first? Quote
