I have a question regarding the carburetor linkage swivel piece that’s bolted to head: does the bolt go into a blind hole?

If you're talking about the post at the rear of the engine head.....that's for cars. 

Trucks should have a bolt filling the space and not the post.

On my 52 218 out of a Concord, it goes all the way through.  I had to seal the threads on it.
