duly Posted October 9, 2020 Report Posted October 9, 2020 (edited) I am trying to learn as fast as I can about my new acquisition. It is very original and mostly complete, only missing transmission. The motor has one spark plug broken off on the head. My question is what years of MOPAR will be a direct swap for my '50 flathead? Yes I plan on pulling the motor and trying to rebuild but I doubt it is a builder. And yes I have the shop manual. Thank you, Bryan Edited October 9, 2020 by duly details Quote
greg g Posted October 9, 2020 Report Posted October 9, 2020 42 to 59 are all 230 cu in US built cars 23.5 inch long engines. The later the better for most horsepower. Transmissions while same for Plymouth and Dodge have different length input shafts because f deeper bell housing for Dodge fluid drive. 1 Quote

greg g Posted October 9, 2020 Report Posted October 9, 2020 Don't just look for cars as donors. Lots of these found in agri equipment, welders, airport ground support vehicles, large air compressors, forklifts, irrigation pumps.and military vehicles. Quote

I think it would pretty cool to say my flathead is from a forklift. With that being said, I doubt the motor mounts would be correct to go into the Dodge? I can move mounts just asking. Quote
greg g Posted October 9, 2020 Report Posted October 9, 2020 Yes with the possible exception of the bell housing, and oil pans but most stuff will transfer from your current engine. Quote
