the repair manuel says when doing a tune up with a vacuum gauge pull it from the manifold? where and how? im new to old mopars.. this is on a 53 plymouth.

My '47 has vacuum wipers & there is a tube from the side below the heat deflecter that I use. I suspect the '53 has electric wipers - check anyway. Otherwise could use the vacuum advance tube - may need a tee though.

There are a couple ports on the intake manifold, ar at least bosses in the casting for them. On the earlier cars there would be a tapped port fo rthe vacuum windshield wiper motor. Some may have a pipe plug in them. It would be on top just to the rear of the carb. It the pipe plug is there remove it and insert a fitting appropriat eto your vacuum gauge connection. If there is no pipe plug but a boss you can drill it and tap it for a connection, when done with the vacuum test, remove the fitting and insert a pipe plug, or leave the fitting with a lshort length of plugged tube on it.

Hi P24.....welcome to the forum. You've just seen an example of the fast and helpful info available here.:) You might go to your profile and list the city or area where you live so it will appear in the upper right corner of the message each time you post. Always helpful to remember where you are as well as what car you have. Which photo album are you using to store your pictures? Several here use PhotoBucket.....works good for me, anyway.

Ahhh, here in L.A. we mainly deal with the pigeons. And, of course, the street people. It's like living in a David Letterman monologue about public defecation and urination. Makes ya almost grateful for the pigeon poop.:P
