MuseC3G6 Posted January 6, 2020 Report Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) I recently purchased a 1955 Dodge C3G6. Someone had stolen the generator, starter and coil off the motor I have since obtained those parts but I have oil lines that are not attached to anything and the oil filter has it’s lines already attached as they should be. Need help identifying where these lines go. I have scoured the internet and read through my shop manual numerous times but can’t figure it out. Edited January 6, 2020 by MuseC3G6 Correction Quote

RobertKB Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 (edited) There should be an oil line that runs to a rubber hose for the oil pressure gauge. The other end of the rubber hose connects to a solid line from the gauge itself. Hope this helps for one of the lines. You can see one end of the rubber hose which is behind the oil filter in the picture as well as the steel line which goes through the firewall to the oil gauge. The steel line to the gauge has a specialty ending at the gauge used to stop any chance of leaking. The rubber hoses can be found on ebay and there are many old Mopar suppliers out there that sell them also. Edited January 7, 2020 by RobertKB Quote
MuseC3G6 Posted January 7, 2020 Author Report Posted January 7, 2020 My gauge is hooked up I essentially have two spots that I have no idea what goes there. Is anyone able to photograph the side of their 251 so I can get an idea of lay out and what might be missing. Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted January 8, 2020 Report Posted January 8, 2020 Your block appears to be a 1400229 so its full flow. For a full flow setup oil comes out of port 1 (yellow) goes through the filter and then returns to port 2 (red). Oil for the pressure gauge can be taken off ports 4,5 or 6. Note the plug between 1 and 2 (BLACK) must be in position to force the oil through the full flow filter. You can fit a partial flow or return filter but things change. The plug between 1 & 2 is removed. No1 port is blocked. Oil to the filter is usually taken from port 2 but can be taken from 4,5 or 6. Oil from the filter is returned to port 3 (blue). Oil to the gauge can be taken from whatever red port is not used. Tony 1 Quote
MuseC3G6 Posted January 8, 2020 Author Report Posted January 8, 2020 Tony I have a partial flow filter already hooked up. Do the ports need to be plugged or was another filter hooked up or possibly an oil cooler? Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted January 8, 2020 Report Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) 1 being the output and 2 being input (missing line) there was something in there. I have never seen an oil cooler on trucks, may be there was an other filter. Is 3 the return from the oil filter in the pic? What port does the input come from? You could plug 1 & 2 but you have to remove the by-pass plug between the two. The sump has to be removed for this. Or take a line from 1 and turn it back into 2. Or fit new lines and a filter. Can you take a pic showing the whole engine? That filter looks to be in a strange position. Tony Edited January 8, 2020 by Tony WestOZ Quote
MuseC3G6 Posted January 8, 2020 Author Report Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) The in for the oil filter is coming from 5. I’m going to eventually clean everything up so that it’s routed neatly. The truck was used on a farm until it was traded for equipment. I’m also trying to find the coil bracket also as that was stolen off the truck before I got it.
