Norm's Coupe Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 What to do with junk P15 hubcaps. Weld two together back to back, paint it yellow, put a face on it, and one 5/16" rod to stick it in the ground. Bingo, you now have yard art for the wife's flower garden. Wife loves it as only a wife would. It's in the vise right now for the face to dry. Quote
PatS.... Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Norm, you better not let Martha see that or she'll want one for her house too!!!! Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 Pat, I'm sure she can make her own. After all, she can do it all, and then it will be a "Good Thing". Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Starts with the hubcaps. Next will be a fish pond from the gas tank. Swings for the grandkids from the tires. Pretty soon there will not be a car left to not drive. You better hurry and drive your car before it is all gone. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 Don, Not to worry, will not make swings for the grandkids out of tires. Only have one grandkid and she's going to be 16 the end of October. I do have at least one or two other little project like this one in mind. Need more old hubcaps though. Maybe I'll find those at the swap meet Saturday if I go. Also have a couple other small welding projects in mind. This last one was fun to do and so should the others. Haven't touched my welder for several years. Want to do a little patch work on the coupe body. So.....making these little projects is not only fun to do, but is good practice. They are really more fun than just driving a car. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Norm, where's the swap meet this Saturday? Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 Norm, where's the swap meet this Saturday? Merle Merle, it's in Jefferson at the Fairgounds. It's actually Saturday and Sunday. It's the last swap meet until end of February or 1st of March next year. It's best to go Saturday though as a lot of the vendors start shutting down earlier on Sunday, plus the pickins are less on Sunday after everyone picks over stuff on Saturday. Jefferson has two per year put on by Madison Classics and they are almost as good as Iola. One in April and one in September. Gate opens at about 6 AM and closes at sun down. We usually get there around 6:30 AM but some of the vendors are not even open that early. Starts to get real busy around 10 AM. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 I may have to run out there Saturday morning. I couldn't go on Sunday anyway, I'm flying down to Nashville Sunday morning for a business conference. My Saturday plans got canceled, so I was looking for something constructive to occupy my time. I was leaning towards the "Ride for a Cure" Breast Cancer ride out of Wisconsin H-D in Oconomowoc. But the Swap sounds more interesting. Maybe I'll see ya out there, Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 Merle, we usually leave about 2 PM. I'll keep an eye out for you. We usually grab a bite to eat across the street from the main gate. There is a house right on the corner that sells sandwiches (hot dogs, brats and BBQ sandwiches). Food there is better than inside the fairgrounds. We'll usually hit that sometime between 11 AM and 1 PM. If you walk out the gate though, make sure you get your hand stamped at the gate so you can get back in without paying again. The women there sell the food in their driveway. You can sit on the wall and eat. Tom Russom usually has a booth there too selling his old Mopar parts. Not sure if he's going to be there though. He just got back from Ohio a day or so ago. Quote
