Dennis Detweiler Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) I have a 39 with 201. The carb that is on it (Ball & Ball) that I rebuilt is from an early 50's Dodge truck. The intake manifold has a steel sleeve in it with an opening measuring 2 1/2 dia. The carb throttle body opening measures 2 9/16. I also rebuilt a BBR-1 economy carb, but it has a smaller mounting bolt pattern and smaller throttle body bore, so it's not a fit. Is there supposed to be a steel sleeve in the manifold carb bore opening? It's also a split manifold. The carb kit came with two carb to manifold gaskets. One is 2 3/4 diameter opening and the other is 2 5/8 diameter opening. I'm assuming this BBR-1 will work properly with the engine and the steel sleeve is factory? Thanks for the input on my posted questions. Edited November 14, 2017 by Dennis Detweiler misprint Quote
Bryan Posted November 14, 2017 Report Posted November 14, 2017 Restrictions usually increase air speed and vacuum at that point. Unless there is some kind of vacuum port coming into the manifold there, you wouldn't think it would cause a problem taking it out. Not really sure. Quote
